I'm trying to wean myself off my brush. I want to keep my newly discovered 1c hair wavy. I would even like for it to be wavier than it is, and for longer. I'm searching older threads to find out how to do that. One thing I've seen is to use a nice wide tooth comb. I have an acrylic one that I've used in the shower for forever. I want one that I can use at night. I'm finger combing in the morning before I put my hair up, but I would like one that I can use at night to make sure that there are no tangles before I braid it at night. Any suggestions?

And while I'm asking, I saw in an old thread that microfiber towels are better for wavy hair, would one of those microfiber turban thingies work? I could just pile my hair on top of my head, and stick it on there.

I found micro fiber towels much to catchy for my taste. I use Egyptian cotton towels instead.

As far as the comb is concerned, I use a generic shower wide tooth comb I bought at Sally's. Hoping for a "Madora" comb after my tax refund arrives.

I love my hairsense combs:

Lots of different sizes/tooth spacings, waterproof, etc. Mine needed a little touchup sanding between a tine or two when I got it, but they'll last forever.

The generic shower comb from Sally's is what I use in the shower. I use it to make sure that the conditioner is all through my hair.

Last forever is good.

Evoaltree has some nice wooden ones, found on amazon, I have more than five of them... :crush: They may be a tad pricy though... So if you're looking for something cheap, these probably aren't it... They have combs topped with horn as well...

A third vote for the Body Shop's wooden combs (http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/hair-care-products/hair-brush/detangling-comb.aspx). They're seam-free, reliable, effective, and attractive. They're also relatively inexpensive at $7 each, and the Body Shop almost always has some sort of buy X get Y free deal going on. Pro tip: you can also get 4% cash back by shopping online through Ebates.com.

I've bought several wide tooth combs including plastic ones since joining LHC, wanted to try and see which one suited my hair. The one I love the most is the horn comb (bought off ebay), second best is the wooden detangling comb from The Body Shop. After reading JJJLong hair's blog bought a bone comb (Item 210) from Hairsense, somehow didn't end up liking it. It kind of felt rough on my hair.

I've heard good things about them from other places too.

Pricy is kind of out of my reach right now, but it wont always be. I will definitely save this link.

Good to know! I always like cash back.

That's what I'm worried about, buying something that will be rough on my hair.

Creative 8L is an excellent comb. I've had all kinds--Hairsense, MP, bone, wood--and I think the Creative combs are the best, especially for thick hair.
