View Full Version : Hair Type Changing?

My hair is responding so well to LHC hair care techniques :) I've never felt like its been more soft, shiny, or manageable. I have notice, though, that my unmanageable flippies and turning into real wurlies (sorry for my extremely technical terms haha) and I was wondering if maybe I didn't type myself correctly, or perhaps my hair is changing into what it really is when cared for properly.

And because I get them very confused... Is this 1b still? Or more like 1c? Or both :p Just curious!

typical bangs flipping out. they're still slightly damp so they will flip more if I don't tackle them soon

I'm sorry I don't have better pictures. I wanted my brother to take pics with my real camera of the back of my head, but he won't get out of bed :( darn
I just put some of nightblooming's panacea on the ends and smoothed it down a little, looks more presentable lol. I was wondering if I should stop fighting the wurlies (trying to make them straight) and go with them - todays wash & no touch is kind of confirming that for me.

I'd call that 1c yes, if that is a proper hair typing picture.

Definitely not 1b, I'd say 1c, though you may be able to coax more wave out of it, too. (FWIW, I'd have said 1c on the basis of your March sig pic, too. :))

It's a 1c at the mo'. Not a 1b (then it's straight with a flip at the ends, nowhere else [ETA: Sorry, it seems I remembered wrongfully... Here's the 1b definition: "1b - straight but with a slight body wave, just enough to add some volume, doesn't look wavy"]).

You definitely look wavy, even though it's not much (yet)! Congrats on becoming wavier, I hope you're as happy about that as I was. :D

my hair type has definitely changed since i started taking better care of it, it's become a lot wavier since i started oiling it on a daily basis. I think you should go with the waviness and not fight it!

Thanks for all of the responses :) I appreciate all of them!!
I do like the wurlies, and I hope to learn more about them ;) lol
The only thing I don't like is I feel like my hair feels shorter haha

Silly me :p
Thank you!

I am completely surprised at my wurlies. My mom is too LOL - she's always had crazy wavy/curly hair and she recently started straightening it to look more like mine :o
(I admit I still straighten my bangs)

I think you've got loose waves - like 2a or 2b on your latest pictures.
I think it's normal occurrence here on the LHC, because LHC philosophy is pretty close to Curly Girl Method on some hair issues: e.g. low-poo or CO-washing, heavily conditioning, finger-combing or using a wide-tooth comb, and all of that can encourage natural curl/wave to come through more and frizz to calm down.

The most recent pics are definitely 2a. I'd say you're on the cusp of 1c/2a. Congratulations on becoming a wavy!
