Hi All,

I have read that healthy hair stretches to about 30% its normal length when dry and about 50% when wet. My hair stretches normally when dry, but when wet it stretches a little bit then breaks. So it's definitely low elasticity when wet, normal elasticity when dry.

Does this mean my hair is damaged? But why the normal elasticity when dry? What can I do to rectify this? I do SMTs about once a week or two, and I oil before almost every wash.

Thanks in advance! I'm still trying to figure things out for my hair.

Generally speaking, hair is weaker (and thereby stretchier) when wet. Doesn't mean the hair is damaged.

Thing is my hair is not stretchy at all when wet. It is stretchier when dry

Oh. Sorry I completely read your post wrong, oops :p I still think it's fairly normal though, hair is weaker (so easier to break) when wet which is why it's important to be extra gentle on hair whilst washing it/it's wet. I wouldn't worry about it.
