View Full Version : Decided to trim back to waist from nearly hip!

I was finding way too many split ends on multiple S&D sessions. I got a great groupon for a trim and conditioning treatment at a local salon, so I went with a coworker to trim.

I had originally only asked for a 1 inch trim, but I looked at my ends after my hair had partially dried, and I saw a lot more splits, so I decided to trim a little more. I'm about waist length now, and I can finally run my fingers through my hair again without it tangling halfway through. I am really happy that I did it, and my hair isn't looking as scraggly as it was.

There's nothing like happy healthy hair after a trim.

That's brave! Your hemline looked fine in the first picture, but it looks amazing in the second. Also, if your hair feels better it was the right decision!

Thank you so much crumpet! I know it's only hair, and I was so tired of doing 2+ hour S&D sessions each week and finding more and more splits than the week prior.

It will grow back even better than it was before :)

I know the feeling of constantly finding more splits no matter how careful I am with my hair. Enjoy the new length!

Thank you so much spider mom! I recall your struggles with splits as well. I know this trim will make a big difference in my hair being a little more enjoyable as of recent.

It's so soft and nice right now :)

Beautiful hair and the new hemline looks amazing. Its fantastic what a trim can do to the feel of the hair sometimes. If you want to reach hip again youŽll be back there in no time! :)

That's why i always trimmed back in the past and why i was stuck at waist forever  healthy hair was far more important to me than the length even though i wanted that too, i'm finally getting past hip with nice ends i think its all in the gentle combing or brushing. I actually think your hair looked good before but it looks lovely now :heartbeat:

I think your hair looked lovely pre-trim but looks even nicer now! Your ends look so full, and I really like the U shaped hemline!

Both length shots look fantastic, you have such beautiful hair. What do you think caused the splits? Were you wearing it down a lot, brushing when wet, etc?

Looks amazing!
I also trim when it starts to feel 'sticky or stuck' when I run my fingers through it. ;)

It looks lovely, and it really doesn't look that much shorter! Although we all know it feels so much shorter!

Thank you so much everyone! The splits were caused by mechanical damage by wearing a scarf daily. I had a lot of crazy splits on my nape, and they were traveling downwards.

I have another shot where I'm not wearing a shirt that shows how thin my hair was getting between waist and hip. I'll see if I can upload it.

Your hair looks awesome now, though it looked lovely before as well. It's great that you can have longer, healthier hair without splits now :D

That's a lot of length to go, but if there's nothing but splits in the ends, it's got to be worth it. Enjoy your "new" hair. :D
