Hello lovely hair folks,

time goes quickly and I noticed I found this community 4 years ago! Around then, in 2010, I had grown my hair to little past shoulders, now I measure 35 inches which is at hip on me. I still find this forum inspiring and a great source of information.
I wanted to share my hair evolution and hope that someone will find it inspiring on their hair journeys. My hair was in a terrible/ fragile/ damaged condition for a long time, and this community has truly helped me to take better care of it :)

Here's my hair in spring 2008, I had just cut my long locks off with kitchen scissors:

and.. in summer 2009, my own colour somewhat:

2011, blonde:

in the end of the year 2013, hennaed and in its natural state as I rarely style it:

and this is a blurry photo of today. Back to black. Or at least I tried to get it black again, but the henna is pretty stubborn and shines through like crazy, especially in sunlight. I've used Elumen Na@2 and one application of some random permanent dye on top of that:

This is also the longest it has ever been! If I stretch it, it reaches almost top of the tailbone. Still a couple of inches. My goal was to get to tailbone but now I just want to see how long it can go looking decent.. Happy growing everyone!! :p

Good job on growing, I love your natural texture and hemline! I hope my waves calm down and look like yours once my damage is grown out. Do you self-trim? I wanna v-shape like yours too when my hair gets longer. :)

Thank you :)

Weewah, yes I self trim a few times a year but more often just S&D cause I like the fairytale thing going on. Your curls are looking really nice! It doesn't show in the pictures but my hair used to be way more curlier, and in my experience curliness can be enchanced or reduced quite a lot depending on hennaing, coloring, oiling, cones, different shampoos and conditioners etc. I guess the length gain weighed my wurls down but also coloring and henna might have affected that. Now if I want them to curl a little more I use catnip. :)

Thank you ladies for your nice comments! :blossom: They really helped me gain motivation to not give up on growing and taking better care of it.

You see, my hair is not perfect by any means and lately I've been feeling very frustrated with hair care and health problems.

(rant-warning)

I have to wash my hair AT LEAST every other day cause the scalp gets oily and itchy super quickly :S The hair is also very frizzy and tangles instantly. On top of that, I'm afraid of using hair dye anymore. Just today I went to see a doctor to show my swollen lymph node behind my ear. The doctor looked at it and asked if I had dyed my hair recently, and I have just one month ago with black permanent dye. It turned out that the lymph node was probably swollen cause I had got an itching and painful spot of rash just above that :( Got antibiotics for that, hope it helps the pain and itching so I won't damage the scalp more by scratching it. I KNEW that there is probably PPD and other scary **** in those cheap market dyes but was feeling lazy at that point and thought that I cannot have that bad luck if I only use it once. Well, wrong. People have gotten much worse reactions with those dyes and even died with the complications so be cautious... Now I'm pondering between Elumen and indigo again.
