It's hard for me as a curly to see sometimes that my hair has grown. But here's my braid in December 2012, 6 months after joining and tonight, March 2014. I can see that there's more braid (though I still have that annoying little rattail taper, even in spite of a recent trim. However, I do think that taper is why my buns stay up).
My hair actually stretches to my bottom bra strap now, not that you could tell that in this photo. I do love being a curly, though.
It's not the same scrunchie. the first pic is store bought and the second is one I made so that it would be just a little bit bigger, the first one is a bit tight doubled up and a bit loose when its not and the homemade one is just perfect doubled (which is how I like them).
Oh, how I want that braid to get to brastrap.

Looking nice! Looks like you've gained several inches in braid length, there! :flower: Keep up the good work!

And I think the taper is what keeps you securely up! I know without my layers to taper it, I'd have a hard time

I also agree... Definitely longer,

Lol, you know, by the time that braid gets to bra strap, you will be sporting some serious length stretched. Even if the braid looks longer than when your hair is naturally curly..

When i have my hair on a braid its about an inch longer than when my hair is curly.. Personally my braid has just reached waist by the very tip, hips stretched... And you are much curlier than i am.

Wow! Thank you for sharing your hair with us. It's amazing! I'm so impressed. I'm guessing half your length is eaten up in your curl pattern, because in the time period between the two pics, you seem to have grown about 3 visual inches in your braid. It looks lovely.

You've really gotten quite a lot of growth! I know it's hard to be patient, but you're definitely gaining in length, and it looks really healthy.

I think it grew the perfect amount for a year and 3 months! Patience is hard, and that goes for all textures! ;)

Thank you, ladies. I do feel encouraged by you and we will keep on keeping on here.
I do think that it got thicker, which is a surprise because of my age (57). It's supposed to be thinning, if anything, according to conventional wisdom. But LHC methods rock and that I am sure I was pulling hair out from the roots with rough combing, sulphate shampoo and hot water washing and all that before, without knowing. Anyway just put that in there as an encouragement to the other ladies who are starting this long hair journey at an older age.
