I was SDing today and I came across this monster of a split end... it even looks pretty in this photo :p a hair split into 7 - SCARY.

PS: I wanted to post this into a thread that already exists which is about scary-looking split ends but I couldn't find it - so I'm sorry for creating a new one. If it's possible could the mods merge this thread with the original one?

I don't know one off-hand, but a thread full of scary split end pictures would be fun!

I get the occasional one like that if I haven't done an S & D in a few months. That is why people say splits travel. They really do!

Could this (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=26073&highlight=split+ends) be the thread you were looking for?

I had one that I counted up that had split 12 ways.

I've had those too! :p It's really satisfying to trim them off. However, since I started to oil my hair regularly, I haven't seen those monster splits anymore :hollie:

to be honest, my hair is more prone to breakage than splitting. For every split (mostly tiny) I get about 10 broken hairs or white dots, so I was really surprised to find something like this. I think my splits don't really travel up, they just break off and leave a tapered end (at least that's my theory - because I really don't have many).

No, that's not the one. The one I meant started off with a true monster of a split end - it looked more like an eye lash than anything else! :D

Oh gosh, I used to get split ends like that when I would use a flat iron. They are, indeed, scary!
