I finally did it! I have not been able to do any of the buns that other people with my length can do, because my hair is far too thick. But I think I finally figured it out!
My first hairstick came today, and I felt the urge to experiment with hairstyles...this is the result! I'm very happy with it!

I did it by creating 5 braids in total- 2 on the front sections of my hair, in front of my ears,and set them aside. then I took the remaining hair, put it in 3 braids across my head lengthwise, twisted then in on each other like three mini cinnabuns, and stuck the hairstick through all of them. then I took the 2 braids I had made earlier, pulled them back, and pinned them down.
I really hope I can figure out more in the future- I'd like to do something other than a ponytail every once in a while!
