I wanted to try something that was actually made from natural ingredients. I have been off sulfates and silicones for a long time and wanted to find something gentler than what I had been using - KK's Come Clean shampoo. Don't get me wrong; it was working for me, but I was aware that it had the harsh Sulfonate Olefin ingredients and wasn't thrilled about that. About a month or so ago, I did feel my scalp become a bit irritated while washing my hair, but usually in the winter I suffer from eczema unless I slather myself in lotion so I didn't think too much of it. In the back of my mind, I did want to try something gentler, but that did a good job cleansing my hair and scalp since I am prone to limp hair and my scalp gets rather oily by the 3rd or 4th day. So I chose the Shea Moisture Baby Shampoo with Red Bush and Babasu since it had all these great gentle ingredients:

Deionized Water , Decyl Glucoside (Sugar Beets) , Lauroyl Lactylate (Palm Kernel) , Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Oil*Certified Oraganic Ingredient , Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*Certified Oraganic Ingredient , Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil , Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil , Aspalathus Lineraris (Rooibos) Leaf Extract , Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera) , Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) , Guar , Essential Oil Blend , Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower , Lonicera Japonica (HoneySuckle) Flower Extract

I clarified late last week to prep my hair for the new shampoo and I decided to try it last night. After giving it a good shake to mix all ingredients, I noticed that it is a bit on the thick side since it is also meant to be used as a body wash for babies. I was a bit frustrated because I couldn't smell the scent. But then again, I am still getting over a stubborn head cold so I am still all stuffed up. I guess I will have to wait til next time to find out. I had read various reviews before buying it so I knew that the initial sudsing needed to be diluted somewhat in order to spread it easily as well as make it lather so I went ahead and did that.

The second round, the shampoo lathered up a lot. After rinsing my hair, it did feel very clean, but slightly coated as tends to happen with soap based shampoo, but there was no stiffness or stickiness to the hair. I did use a mild ACV rinse afterwards, just in case and applied my regular conditioner below the ears and down the length and left that on a top bun in my shower cap while I did other stuff.

After everything was rinsed out, I noticed that there was hardly any hair in the drain basket. Usually, I shed a lot more during and right after a wash. I was definitely happy about that. I styled as usual and after a couple of hours, went to bed with my hair pineappled on top of my head.

This morning, after it was fully dry, it is soft and bouncy. I was afraid it was going to be super limp, but on the contrary, my waves are a lot more pronounced. I liked that, too. I am glad to have found something gentler that actually works with my fine hair, doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and is easy to incorporate into my current routine.

If anyone else has experience with this shampoo, please chime in, but so far, I really like it :)
