I was looking at childhood pictures and couldn't believe how curly my hair was! When my hair listens to me it can look like this too but recently it hasn't been listening lol What did your hair look like? If you have a picture, post it :)

Here are some pictures:

No pictures but my hair then was almost exactly what it is now. Fine, thin, dark brown. In my family, the children's hair progresses from dark to light and eyes progress from light to dark.

My hair was a lighter blond than it is now. Actually I'm not sure if I count as blond anymore. It was more fine as well. My hair has grown a little more coarse over the years. I had a lot more breakage too since my mom ripped a brush through it. Every time she did I was left in tears, and I don't have a sensitive scalp. (I've swung kids around by my hair in the past for fun) My hiar is thicker than when I was a child too. But I atribute that to being more gentle with it when I detangle.

Pretty much the same as it is now, just slightly thicker I'm sure, although that may just be pictures

Super blonde! I was born with black hair though, and it all fell out when I hit 2 months. When it came back it was almost white, then it darkened to what I have now. I still look pretty light in the sun :)

I can't post pictures yet, but when I was a child, my hair was golden honey-blonde, slightly wavy and TBL, ii, fine strands, with one little 3a/3b curl on the left underside. But then I hit puberty, and my hair slowly got much darker, thicker, and curlier. It's very different now!

Is the color you have now color-treated? Or just natural darkening over the years?

My hair was the same middle brown colour with golden tints as it is today, but the texture was different. As a child my hair was pretty much straight, but I loved it wavy so I often had my mom braid it for me at night so I would end up with braidwaves. Then I hit puberty and my hair suddenly got natural waves and I hated them so much... Tried to tame them with a straightener for many years until I realised I cant beat Žem and gave up :p

Natural darkening. Once I hit puberty, my hair started darkening and it's been gradually getting darker ever since.

Mine was probably iii thickness and nearly-black brown until I was 2-3, then it started getting lighter and settled on the woodland creature brown I've got naturally now, but I've always had the same 1a.

It was smooth and fine, and thick, and about 1b/c'ish, looking at old pictures. It got wavier while growing up and totally wild bushy wavy when I hit puberty.

Hahaha, Lapushka you may be my hair twin. I had the same thing happen to me, too. I used to have long sleek almost straight hair with a hint of waves at the very bottom and it was past my bottom. Then puberty hit and it got scary for a while.

I wonder if that is because your hair got a little curlier and you didn't know. Did you see the thread about what happens when curly hair gets brushed? Lol there is a lot of boom there

Mine was jet black and I had big, ringlet curls. (hard to see here..) I didn't have any hair at all until I was probably 3 or so. My parents wondered if I would ever grow hair...
I see someone did a number on my bangs.. maybe THIS is why I can't have bangs, they get crazy lol

My hair was dark when I was a newborn, but a few months after it started coming in wispy and light blonde, and that was the colour I had until puberty. My hair was baby-fine, straight, and a white-platinum blonde. When puberty hit, my hair started coming in much thicker and darker. So now it's more of a warm golden blonde than platinum, with dark blonde/light brown hair underneath. Hardly any blondes or redheads keep the colour they had when they were children, and to me that's okay. I like the colour I have now, and I especially like the added thickness and texture. My childhood hair could barely hold a clip or an elastic, it was so thin and fine.

I was born with black hair, which turned light blonde after a while. It was straight and smooth until I hit puberty. Then it became wavy and darkened to a dark blonde/blonnette. I was crazy about dandelions as a child (still am, it's my favourite flower).

My hair was a lot redder as a child than it is now. I wish I were still a true red-head instead of in the auburn hinterlands. :p Oh well. But other than that it has always been pretty much the same, fairly thin and straight.

i was born with a thick head of black hair that turned to a very light ash blonde once i hit toddler-hood. I also have a great love of dandelions...coincidence or something more??? :D About the time i was elementary school aged my family moved to germany and my hair darkened and looked very silvery brown. It wasn't until the start of my teenage years that my hair became the medium blondish brown that it is today. It's always been very thick (much to my mom's exasperation) and prone to waviness.

For all of my youth and up until about a year ago, I always thought my hair was black, stick straight, and coarse (half-chinese, so thought that I had my mother's hair type). Always had it short, so the curls never showed themselves, and being so short, naturally the hair was thick as it was always being cut lol. Was also never long enough for the real colour to show though.

Eventually found out that it was dark brown, wavy/curly hybrid lol. My waves/curls only show up at ear level and below, so even as it grew out I thought it was stick straight until it went past my ears... :o

Awww!! How cute were you!!

I've got a similar hair-story - I was born with straight jet black hair and blue eyes; when I was a toddler, my hair then turned ash blonde and my eyes turned hazel. By puberty my hair was slightly wavy and darkened to a darker ash blonde (my avatar pic).

I was born bald then when my hair grew it was blond and curly for the first couple of years of my life ! Then it suddenly darkened and was stick straight until I hit puberty which made my hair curly (S shaped curls). Now it's wavy but can be straight when it wants to lol !

Pretty extreme colour change for me: from this

to this!
http://i.imgur.com/MA8Q2pA.jpg?1

The waviness has always been about the same but the texture of the individual hairs used to be F, not M like now. My eyes also changed from green, to amber hazel but in the last few years they have started to lighten up again and are heading back towards a khaki green again, it's weird! Also my eyebrows are slightly lighter than my hair these days, no idea what that's about

My hair was terrible, dry and thin. My mother had mental health issues and took out her frustration on her children, my hair being a favorite target for combing roughly when wet with a fine toothed comb.

The stress was not good for my hair either, my brother and I both lost most of our hair at one time.

I think that is one reason I really want healthy hair, because it's visible proof that I have not only survived but thrived in spite of everything.

I really identify this, I had an abusive boyfriend who made me keep my hair very short while I was with him, so my hair is partially a way of reclaiming my bodily autonomy

My hair was very thick, and VERY curly. Pure ringlets, all over my head and all the way down. The longest my hair was was when I was 5, it was to my tailbone when it was dry. Then when I was 6 or 7 I got it cut to my shoulders, because for some reason the curls disappeared, and it was way too long for a tomboyish girl like me. I switched back and forth between shoulder length and chin length for years. I stopped getting it cut a couple years ago, and am growing it out again. :)

I had really fine, straight, ashy light brown hair. Mum let my have my hair long as a child because she was never allowed. She actually probably did quite well considering my hair then was the opposite of her dark coarse curly hair. The BBB she tried when I was young didn't work well then but is amazing now. The denman she used is still the kind of brush I use for my hair. I just wish the tangle-teezer had been around then. My mum kept my hair as tangle-free as possible by French braiding it most of the time.
In my teens my hair became a fairly even mix of fine, medium and a few coarse strands, and turned darker and a lot redder. I think from the sudden frizz my hair probably started to border the straight/wavy line back then, but I didn't discover my almost-waves until more recently when I gave up cones.

But it darkened to a light ash brown by the time I was 8 or 9:
