I've debated whether I'm better classified as 2a or 1c for quite a long time. Well, I've finally managed to let it dry without pulling it back or combing after the initial post-wash detangle, so here's the picture. Let me know what you think.

It looks a tad wet still, but I'd say you're either 1c, or 1c/2a.

No that's dry. It's just naturally very stringy/piecey.

Wow  that is a hard one. I would probably push you to 2a because your ends are trying to spiral out.

Yeah, though one. In fact, your hair looks kinda like mine, and I classified myself as a 1c finally. My hair is just too straight to be classified as wavy... I'd say, you can go either way, but I would classify you as a 1c.

If you comb it, do the waves fall right out or do they stay around a bit?

From the picture, I say 2a, because that is more than a body wave with a couple s-waves, it's a few loose s-waves throughout. But, if the waves fall out easily, I would say you're more of a 1c because then the waves might just be based on how it dried against your back.

The waves stick around a little, unless I comb it a couple times as it's drying. Even then, the ends always curl up a bit.

My hair looks exactly like that after being air dried and unmanipulated, and I've been told on a number of occasions by more than one person that I am a 1c and NOT a 2a. Some of those folk were rather... how to put it? Not rude, but strong in their opinion that it's a 1c.

So I vote 1c.

Hello hairtwin! I think your hair looks slightly wavier than mine, so I would call it 1c/2a, maybe even 2a. However, my answer is perhaps not too reliable... I have lately been thinking along the same lines about my hair. It has got wavier since I changed my haircare, and I don't know if the process is complete yet or if I can get slightly more wave. Perhaps I'm about 1c/2a too, perhaps I'm still in the 1c-range. I really should make a new hairtyping picture myself.

Hmmm...looks like 1c to me. But as a curly, I tend to have a different perspective on what is wavy or curly. I love the color of your hair!

Anje, thanks for posting this - my hair is nearly identical to yours and I have been wondering the same thing for ages. I'll be following this thread with great interest! :drama:

I vote 1c/2a (like me, yay!!) :D

I also vote 1c/2a. Your hair has a similar wave pattern to my own. More S waves than a 1c, but not quite a 2a.

I love the color of your hair!

Thanks.

I'm surprised it ended up so shiny, even with the flash, given that it's uncombed.

Hmmm...looks like 1c to me. But as a curly, I tend to have a different perspective on what is wavy or curly. I love the color of your hair! I have that same challenge!

I have a theory -- like many of my theories, highly suspect! -- that my hair is 2a/b on its "straight" days... So from that, I'd say 1c.

I think it's 2A.

I would say 1c also but then you could go either way I think. :)

OK. I'm calling it 1c/2a because things look quite split down the middle.

Looks a lot like mine, I think 1c/2a.

I say 1c. :)

I'd say 1c/2a, like me. I'd definitely say you're more wavy than straight, but if it straightens out when you comb it, then you're probably a 1c. I dunno, I'm just guessing.

Hairtwin! Hairtwin! :cheese:

your hair looks so much like mine I went, "wow"!

technically I think it's 2a because of the ends. Do yours spiral after a few days' not washing, too?

Many people here list their hair as lower than I would, but for me, having a somewhat-straight canopy is balanced out by the spirals at the bottom. I guess I take an average.

Lovely hair!

I voted 1c/2a. That's definitely more than one or two s-waves, but you don't have loose waves all throughout like a true wavy, either.

Hi Katze! I've always thought our hair looked extremely similar in pictures, too. Unlike you, I've never been told mine wouldn't grow, though, fine as it is.

I really couldn't tell you whether my ends spiral after a few days of not washing. My hair is "up" most days, so it really takes shape from whatever I've done to it. If that's buns, they definitely spiral. Braids, not so much.

id say 1c but with a sprinkle of 2a thrown in!

I would say 1c/2a but I am still new at this. So you said you did a post wash detangle? Was that with c still in or a comb through after hair was completely rinsed out? Maybe you are combing some more waves out?

Tentatively I'm going to say 1c/2a. It just looks a bit too wavy to be 1c, but I don't know if it's fully a 2a...I think it's closer to the 2 range than 1 range, though. :) HTH
