I posted a month or so ago about getting closer to my goal but not enjoying my hair down very much. Spidermom and others encouraged me to go for the v-shaped layered hemline I've been thinking about as part of my ultimate goal, even though I haven't reached my length goal yet (hip). It's more of a deep u-shape right now.

I decided to wait until my longest lengths hit waist, which I'm about at right now, so today I have an appointment to get highlights and the cut.

this is the same salon and person I've been going to for years. He has cut my hair twice since I started growing it out. The first time I was disappointed because he took too much off (I had been BSL before the appointment), but the last time he did a great job (and I was much more firm about keeping as much length as possible), so hopefully it will go my way today. I plan to ask for the shortest layers to be a little longer than APL.

Here's the BEFORE. I'll be back with the AFTER later on!

Alright, here is the AFTER pic, and then the two side by side.

I'm pretty happy with it. I could have gone for even more layering, but since I'm not at length goal yet this is good for now and I'd rather he be conservative with his cuts than go overboard. I guess I'm still at waist? The coloring is not as drastic as the pics suggest...I'm in a bathroom with different lighting and of course different time of day.

I love everything about it! It isn't a harsh V, so it still looks full at the ends. Nice!

What a fantastic job he did! You hardly lost any length at all, it just looks tidier and fuller - congrats on a finding a great hairdresser :)
