I know what you mean. My husband and I were watching Planet of the Apes a few nights ago, and although I'm 90% sure it was a wig, Nova.... sigh. :cloud9:

I have hair envy over the girl in the original Carrie 1976 version the girl was an unknown actress. She's in the beginning where Carrie starts her period. She's the girl with long classic length curly hair. She was the reason I started getting perms. I think her character name was Ruth Gogan.

The thought of a braid thicker than my arm is kind of scary, truth be told.

Whenever I see natural redheads. I know I could do henna, but it's such a commitment. Henna will probably get me sooner or later.

Hi I'm new! I would love, love, LOVE to have long, big, curly hair. Something like Felicity or a young Lisa Bonet. Whenever I see it irl I die a little.

I know how you all feel about this hair envy. I have a friend who literally has the most perfect hair ever. She used to dye it every week, and bleach it unbelievably often, and had absolutely no damage at all. None. At. All. She never gets split ends no matter what she does and its never dry. Another thing she can use any shampoo she wants no matter how cheap or full of sulfates and parabens in it. It's so unfair. Plus, HER HAIR IS NATURALLY STRAIGHT
SHE IS BLESSED WITH THE MOST AMAZING HAIR I HAVE EVER SEEN

Ha ha :D well in fact my arm isn't very thick. But seriously that braid was HUGE. And long too. I think it went to her waist.

I have a bad case of hair envy for this girls hair.....
Google "marianne long hair"
You'll see what i mean.. She has slightly wavy hair at almost ankle length with very little taper...
Well thats outside of lhc.... The rest of my hair envy cases happen to be here in lhc.... Not hard to see why, tbere are a lot of people in this community with enviable hair... In reall life thou, i mean people i know..... I dont envy any ones hair, cant seem to find a head of hair of a length i like.... Or relatively healthy... Even the teens with somewhat natural hair so far don't carry anything longer than waist and its all flat ironed to death.
Ohhh i found a video... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vykx5rycf4U

I see more beautiful hair right here on LHC than anything I've ever seen on TV or in a print ad, plus I know it's all natural. Madora, Woolyleprachaun, Rhodegune, Bagginslover come right to mind!

I know someone like this also. NO VISIBLE DAMAGE AT ALL and she does all the things you list. That is when I had my first case of true hair envy and also when I realized hair type/genetics has a lot to do with things.

If anyone ever watched "Reina Del Sur", it's a Mexican novela and the main character, Teresa Mendoza, played by Kate Del Castillo has between waist and tailbone ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL chocolate brown hair. Sometimes straightened, sometimes wavy it looks great. She's in great shape too.
That's TV. On the other hand, I was walking the cliff by the beach in my home town early one morning with my dog (RIP) and this beautiful Hawaiian looking girl was headed the other way in sandals with her wetsuit half way and her surf board, as is customary. She had this thick braid down to at least her waist if not hip of what is obviously wavy hair, so wet and loose it must be at least TBL. Anyway, she probably had at least a 4.5" ponytail circumference if measured and her braid, dangling in front of her shoulder, was definitely oiled and ready for a long morning in the ocean surf. Made me smile. :)
Whoever mentioned genetics, you're right on. Genetics definitely determines the X potential and we attempt to maximize that. For example, I have a lot of hair and it is fairly thick, but I will probably max out at about 4" ponytail circumference regardless because…I have a small head! Haha. It's true, I wear small hats and I had one that was junior size when my hair was really short and I needed something to keep it back. My blended hair types will always look a little disheveled and certain hairs will split, others break. My curly friend will always worry about frizz and splits. My fine haired friends worry about breakage and flatness. I guess we learn to live with what we have but I still LOVE to just OGLE beautiful hair.

oh this thread has made me so envious of all hair you posted. I don't know if envy is the right word though... i would say it's more like admiration. Oh, I can't wait until i have reached my own goal. i hope that my hair envy is gone by then. ;)

A lady I know had very thick, very healthy hair that was blunt cut at her ankles. It was thick all the way to the ends and she is 6 foot tall! It made a ball even bigger than her head when she bunned it. (I never figured out how she manages to keep that mass of hair bunned neatly and solidly to her head) It was blond with natural highlights and carmel color and was silky smooth with a slight wave.
I was floored every single time I saw it and had some serious hair envy. Unfortunately it caused her such bad migraines from the enormous weight of it she cut it to a layered waist length wich was still pretty. But, then she fried it with highlights until now it's brassy and broken/unhealthy looking. A terrible end to the most glorious head of hair I've ever seen.
