Hello everyone!

A few weeks ago, I posted a thread asking for protective styles for short hair. So far, I've found these updos. I'm not sure about how protective they really are, but I'm sure they could come in handy for fellow shorties or medium-length haired guys and gals who are trying to grow. :yinyang:

- A fake heidi braid (two side braids looped back behind my head and pinned at the nape)
- Just two plain ol' side french braids. (since my hair is layered, I had to pin the little pieces that I missed or fell out)
- Two tiny pigtails (Not my favorite style, but could be jazzed up with some clips or a braided fringe)
- French twist (with a few pins for those pesky short layers)
- The top knot! (This one took me a lot longer to do than it did for the nice lady in the video. She reminds me of Tinkerbell!) Video Tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JqjTpPqY7g
- Double messy bun-thingy? (My favorite. This is sooo cute, and I love to use flower pins) Video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcLAxLNKrOU
- The side-combover-bohemian crown braid (That's what she calls it, at least!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY7TgQKArKk
- Gibson twist

You can also try a split bun. (I call it a meta bun because it's a bun within a bun.) Pull your hair into a half-up, twist into a cinnamon bun, and secure with spin pins or bobby pins. Then bring the remaining hair up and twist it around your first bun, securing with more spin pins or bobby pins. This can help you get a bigger-looking bun with short hair.

Here's a YouTube tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-6DYf_60zk

And here it is on my hair when it was shoulder-length:
