So I found this hair when I was in the shower. NEVER seen a hair like this...? Split?

It was split like all the way down the way. I just thought I'd share it with you guys lol

that's very different. When mine fall out it looks like a rull of the mill strand. I've got some breakage and shedding but I have no idea what would cause that.

That is the only hair I have ever seen look like that come off my head. They are usually pretty healthy. But it goes to show what a long hair can go through

centipede is the first word that came to my head when i saw that.

Anyone know what causes these type of splits? Is it friction?
OP was this at the bottom of hair that you snipped off or did it fall out from somewhere?

Most likely a hair that was pulled through a tangle and run through a very tight bend. Same process as curling ribbon over a scissor blade.

Goosebumps! Lol that thing is insane. I have a roommate whose hair I find all over the place (even in my bedroom, which she never enters :confused:) and I once found a very similar split hair. I was about to freak out until I realized it was too long and dark to be mine :p

I've had two of those before, but all of the 14 splits were at the end inch or two of the hair. Amazing how it never broke off, huh? XD

For whatever reason I really like looking at split ends. My hair is pretty fine and if my hair splits it only reaches 1 or 2mm max from the end of the strand before it breaks off completely.
This reminds me of some of the monster splits that I find my boyfriend's rat tail when I S&D for him.

So THIS is actually a hair monster.
Sometimes I find some bad splits, like 5-6 splits to the same hair, but only to the ends, never seen something like this.
But I quote RapunzelKat:
