I don't think I've seen a pic like this. I took it just for fun. Yes, I can sew a button on with a strand of hair. Yes, I can sew a seam with it (the seam isn't very visible, but its to the left of the needle). It's a little trouble, because hair is more slippery than thread by its nature, but that button is on extremely securely lol and if I had used two pieces of fabric, the seam would hold. never even seemed close to breaking

That is very cool. You can save money on thread too! Haha. My hair isn't course all over but I have more than a few coarse strands throughout it... Might have to try this and show it off!

Yay coarse hair, lol! I once sewed a strand of my hair into a special piece of embroidery for someone.

Have you ever seen the website for Leila's Hair Museum? It has amazing pictures of victorian hair art. I'd heard of it before but never seen examles, they definitely took it to the next level: http://www.leilashairmuseum.net/gallery.html

Yes, I've seen that leila's museum, its interesting. I don't think I'm up to doing such fancy stuff, though. I'm doing an embroidery now and I've been trying NOT to get hair sewed in by accident (super shedder here).

I'm just wasting time today. And I was talking to my mom and telling her how one of my friends (chinese) didn't believe my hair could be as coarse as hers because I'm black--she said asian people have the coarsest hair. And I'm like, not always. And it turned out, mine was as coarse, to her extreme surprise. So I told my mom and she started laughing and said, yes, your hair you could sew on buttons with and I wondered---?

so now I know its true, I can sew on buttons with my hair. I used to curse my coarse hair before LHC but I like it now that I know how to handle it. Growing up black with coarse hair was an interesting experience because its true that a large percentage of blacks have not jsut fine, but very fine hair (though I'm sure I'm not the only exception). I partly hate going to hairdressers because they were always so puzzled as to what to do with coarse and resistant (non-porous) hair (and then often not very nice).

That's so cool. We wear our hair on our head, why not our clothes? I'd love to try that, but I bet mine wouldn't hold for very long. :(

But, Meowscat and Lapushka, your hair is so pretty. No need to do the sewing with it.

Wow, interesting chen bao jun, so cool :). I read an article about a Chinese woman knitting hats for her husband to preserve her hair. Here's the link http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2547439/Devoted-Chinese-wife-spends-11-years-knitting-husband-coat-hat-using-HAIR.html

Wow. she puts me in the shade. I'm surprised the outfit is so very pretty. I itch just looking at it though. But I'm allergic to everything-wool, alpaca, cashmere--acrylic even makes me itch sometimes. I can just imagine wearing a 'hairshirt'.

See now, if we were ever to have a button pop off and have a needle but no thread handy, just take a piece of your hair and make do! Pretty awesome!
