View Full Version : Is my hair warm or ashy? What colour level? (Pic heavy)

Hi everyone:)

It's a little intimidating posting as a newbie - I've already been scolded a few times for going off topic or not posting in the right forum so hopefully I got this one right  I searched LHC and I saw all other "colour type me" posts in this forum.

So I went to a hairdresser and she pronounced me as a 6c ash darkest blonde (this was in June before the sun hit). But I have brown hair? And lately I'm seeing so many highlights or warm bits in my hair, especially the front. I'd love to hear opinions on what my hair colour really is from all the hair-savvy people on LHC :grouphug:.

Thank you!

I'd call that borderline blonette and ashy.

hey girl I think we might be hair colour twins :) [after my henna grows out that is]
it's nice to see that our ashy hair can get some golden tones as well. if you're interested check the ash brown hair thread (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=112776) :)

I agree with your hairdresser that it's a very dark ash blonde or very light ash brown. I'm ash blonette and can see different golden hues in my hair depending on the lighting but it's still considered ashy. :)

I agree with your hairdresser.

I would say it has ash undertones. :flower:

You look like an ashy level 7 to me. Ash has cool tones and cool tones tend to look darker than warm tones. A 7 is a solid blonde but because it is ashy or 'smoky' it tends to look more brown :)

I think it is a light ash brown, exact same as mine :) only you have more highlights!

Is there not a sort of cross-over between light brown and dark blonde? My brother had white-blonde hair as a child but it's darkened down to a similar colour to yours.

I'd call that borderline blonette and ashy.

I agree, I joined this forum as a result of googling dark blonde/light brown hair and found the 'blonette' thread so I'd definitely say your colour (which is gorgeous btw) is in between dark blonde and light brown, depending on how the light hits and therefore blonette :)

Oh and sorry yes it does appear ashy, which I think mine is too :)

Judging from your avatar, yes, yes it is! :)

Thank you Lapushka - the avatar pic was taken this week and is a browny dye I had put on to be as close to what i believe my natural colour to be as possible so I can start to grow out the dye. But the small amount of root growth I have looks even more ashy than this. I hope my natural colour will not be too dull :D
