View Full Version : do you "pre poo" before clarifying

I have to clarify/chelate hair this week once my new shampoo comes in.
I usually pre poo with coconut and avocado oil to protect my hair before washing usually. Sometimes argan.

My question is though, should you pre poo before a clarifying or does that make it harder to get the full effect?
If you do, is one oil in particular or substance better than another to do it with?

It'll make it harder to get the full effect, honestly. The point of pre-pooing (wow, that could be taken the wrong way ) is to prevent hair from being stripped; the point of clarifying is specifically to strip the hair.

I already take a couple of times to get a good lather from my clarifying shampoo, so I probably wouldn't try to prepoo.

I agree. The point of clarifying is to get the gunk off.

I don't pre oil but I do wait an extra day to wash and massage the natural oils through good first.

I occasionally do a pre-wash oil. Not if I'm intending to clarify though :)
