That is fantastic to learn. Crosshairs were literally crossed strands of hair! I thought they were just threads or something.

That's the best thing I've read all day. I love that story I'd donate my hair to something like that.

Interesting to note she wasn't informed of the strands actual use until 1987.

This article brings to mind a local TV news report I heard (around either Thanksgiving or Christmas) in 1990. Apparently the US govt had put out a request for long virgin hair for use in bomb-sights for the Gulf War, and a woman from southeastern Ohio answered the call by donating her never-been-cut knee-length blonde hair for the cause.

Still wanting blonde only, eh?
And likely fairly straight to slightly wavy, I'd guess.

Apparently (when in war mode) they do seem to want the hair to be blonde. Fine textured, too. And I'd guess the straighter, the better.

Let there be peace on earth.... and leave the hair where it belongs. :)

...Speaking of WWII and hair, here's a British propaganda poster I'm in love with:

Fascinating! Though I'd be pissed if I found out my hairs were used for bombing :P
