No idea where this should go so MODS apologies in advance if you have to move this.

Do you ever wish society would change its style of "acceptable" clothing to match the look you have in your mind?
Sometimes I watch sci fi and fantasy shows and wish we could dress in those unique ways. Think of all the fun hairstyles we could do that would be accepted if we could dress differently.

I love creativity and wish for for society to go towards and accept a new look. Everything feels so bland. Even high fashion never captures anything truly unique.

Does anyone have a favorite fantasy look or period look they wish they could dress in so their hair could be styled to match?

I'd dress all Victorian Gothic if I didn't value comfort and practicality over fashion, and if I weren't afraid of getting too much attention. I'm sure it would inspire me to do some whimsical and period hairstyles.

I wish I could be an anime girl! Straight out of an anime/manga. I could grow alllll the hair I could ever dream of :o and dress in such a way that wouldn't get weird unwanted attention here in the plain ole usa. But hey, live your dream ^^ if you have the confidence you can dress up how ever you may like.

I love scifi and fantasy clothes. Some of the things in Xena were awesome but impractical. I'm still trying to figure out a way to fix that while keeping the spirit of my inspirarion. The hobbit on the other hand is easier to adapt I suspect.

those are great pictures! The medieval look is stunning. I love the red AND blue dress.

I think it would be so cool if everyone dressed how they wanted and it was socially acceptable. I was watching TLC channel and there were girls who dressed like dolls and one tried to go on job interviews like that and was laughed out the door. I thought it was awesome she did what she wanted (although $$ is needed to live so..maybe not so awesome in that sense-time and place)

I really like clothing and hair from the first war era (thank you downtown abbey), but I think I would really like to LIVE in this area, not just dress!

I wish we still dressed like in the 50'. I love the hair from then too. :)

Have you heard of Jillian Venters? Do a Google search and you'll be pleasantly surprised. She dresses in her unique Victorian style all the time, even to go to work. I've followed her for years, starting on Livejournal way back when.

I dress in rather "costumey" looking clothes a lot and do my hair to match and I get a lot of looks and people laugh but I don't care I enjoy it. My favorites are my "regency" dresses I sew (and matching updo!) because they look nice and they're sooooo comfortable! lol

I love middle eastern fashion. I have an anarkali that i'll wear sometimes, but it's tough to find some of those styles of clothes without spending large amounts of money through overseas online stores. I would love wearing Indian saris, lehengas, etc all the time if fashion would allow it without looking costume-y. I find the fabric and style and designs so beautiful. I have two coworkers who are from Egypt as well, and they are always dressed so elegantly.

I absolutely agree with you. I often watch the national geographic channel and when a program covers anything about the middle east, I drool over the rich colors and draped fabrics that the women wear. Elegant is definitely the word to describe their dress :)

I have also been obsessed with Game of Thrones since the first season of the show, have since started on the books, and I get so swallowed up in their hair and dress. I mean come on.

Move someplace culturally diverse and dress however you want. San Francisco? Nobody will look twice no matter what you wear.
