Hi girls,

I want really good quality pins (usual booby pins/u-pins gets wonky after one use) for when I do milkmaid braids/faux crown braid to secure them and was thinking about these: https://www.etsy.com/se-en/listing/118692597/quattro-accessories-amish-style-hair

Do you think they would be nice? Or any other ideas? I live in Sweden so they need to ship here if yo have other suggestions!=)

Thanks!

Spin Pins or Amish pins are generally recommended.

Those work great, but no need to buy and order them. Go to your local craft store and buy double sided knitting needles. Bend them around something round that has maybe and inch diameter. I still have mine that I made when my hair was long. I would take my bun down to relax my scalp and people would say things like, "Are those tent pegs?!" Haha. Nope, they hold my hair for me.

They probably come in different colors, too. :)

I think crinkled Amish pins are the best. You can buy them on eBay here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dancer-Hair-Accessory-Stainless-Steel-Heavy-Crinkled-Hair-Pins-/251396994907?pt=US_Hair_Accessories&var=&hash=item8021b314bc#shpCntId

I love Quattro's quality in the few hair items I have from him. I think those are really nice but I don't have those particular ones in my collection.

I purchased from this same vendor, MennoniteMaidens, on Etsy. Another member posted their shop here and I'm so glad they did!. I have their straight pins in this multi-sized option (http://www.etsy.com/transaction/163016834?) they sell which I found perfect since I wasn't sure which sizes I wanted. (Edit! Their Etsy shop says only ships to the US- sorry! They ship worldwide on E-bay though.)

The pins are really great though and not bendy or destroyed even after accidentally going through the washer.

Hairpins with crimps ("crinkles") are great for securing hairstyles. I use 3 inch but also have 2 1/2 inch ones for thinner braid sections.

The pins in the link don't look very bendable to me..plus those end tips seem too iffy. I prefer the ends of my hairpins to be coated with a bit of plastic to protect my scalp when inserting the hairpin.

Another vote for MennoniteMaidens from me. I've got these ones (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24-pins-Amish-Made-Stainless-Steel-Snagless-Straight-Hair-Pins-3-2-1-2-/310813946797?pt=US_Women_s_Accessories&var=&hash=item485df473ad) and they're absolutely incredible. You will lose them before they stop looking brand new and they hold hair incredibly well, I consider them one of my best purchases for my hair to date.

I wouldn't spend that much money on four plain hair pins, regardless of what they're made from or who made them.

I love my Amish hair pins. It has been the best purchase. I use them daily. As soon as I get out of bed, I put my hair in a bun using my Amish pins. I carry them in my purse, just in case I feel the need to put my hair up. If I could have only one thing to use in my hair, I would pick Amish pins. They have made such as difference in how I style my hair. I can now do protective styles with ease with my Amish pins.

I personally don't have booby pins ;) but I do use my original crinkled Amish ones most. I have the regular ones as well, but the crinkleds are better. Very good value for money.
