December 18, 2013 was my 3-year anniversary as an LHC member! I forgot initially and then couldn't find my camera to take a new pic.
However, it's time now to document my progress! I have spent a lot of time trimming away damage and experimenting with various things. At this time I have settled on washing every 3-4 days, and yes...I use cones and sulfates. My hair likes them. I use oil (coconut, Jojoba, Argan) when I remember to as a pre-wash. I use mineral oil on the ends and up the length after washing. When I joined LHC my hair was hovering just above shoulder after a bit cut and color a few months before. I stopped coloring (except for a dip-dye on my old damaged ends that I did last spring) and started growing.
Here come some pics!
June 2010 (right after my last color and big cut)

Due to the LHC photo album meltdown, quite a lot of my "just hair" pics were lost. Oh well. So, we'll have to skip ahead in time to December(ish) 2012. I was approaching waist at the time. My hands are on my waist in the pic below.

Spring of 2013 I made it to waist! My hands are on my HIPS in this next pic.

And then...I dip-dyed it. Which I liked. However it did cause a lot of damage to my old old ends that had already suffered. http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/Kirsten_MacDicken/02826a8b-1f0b-4500-b80e-2e5ae215035d_zpsfd11ae5a.jpg (http://s1049.photobucket.com/user/Kirsten_MacDicken/media/02826a8b-1f0b-4500-b80e-2e5ae215035d_zpsfd11ae5a.jpg.html)
As I approached hip, the damage got to be too much to deal with. Splits and white dots everywhere. It was BAD. So in August 2013 I got it cut...all of the dip-dye plus about .5" above, just to be safe. I have no pic to document it...but the cut took me from almost hip back to solid BSL. About 4" or so was cut. I have a VERY short torso.
Now, my hair is 100% virgin. No dye, no heat. I can't find any splits or white dots and I am continuing to grow. My plan is to grow until I no longer like it and the cut it back to where I enjoyed it most. Haven't reached a stopping place yet!
Here is my hair today.

I am almost back to waist, about 1" to go. I am planning on taking a pic, wearing this shirt at the beginning of each month to document my progress. It can be frustrating to feel like your hair isn't growing...pic prove otherwise.
Thanks for looking!
