Just for kicks and giggles, I decided to take one last picture this year.

Great progress for 6 months, Johannah especially if you trimmed much! Your ends look great in the June picture.

Johannah, your hemline looks much fuller and very healthy, that's a huge difference from the January picture! and you got a lot of growth as well, in spite of the frecuent trims you got :)

Johannah, your hair appears much fuller and thicker! Very pretty.

Johannah, what a pleasure to admire your shiny blondness making its way down ! :) :) (I particularly love the June and April pics). Your ends really look nice and you can go on growing in confidence !

Thank you! :flower:

diddiedaisy, you look so close to BSL now! It seems it's just about an inch to go... growing from shoulder to almost BSL in just one year is an amazing progress, congrats!

Here's my progress since December 2013 to December 2014. It's a chaotic disaster since I haven't been constant taking pictures, and I kept changing backgrounds and clothing... also, my hair has not gained length since I've been trimming constantly to get rid of perm damage. My progress is mainly the improvement of the condition of my hair, and a fuller hemline. I will keep trimming off perm in 2015, but I hope to reach hip sometime before next december. Hopefully I'll have got rid of the last inches of perm by then

Oh, no, I'm not anywhere near TBL. I'm definitely past hip, yes, but TBL is two years away. I'm hoping for BCL by Christmas 2015. Just quarterly trims planned for 2015 & 2016, then probably a stop at TBL for a year to allow my bangs some time to catch up. Thank you so much for your kind words.

I am confused Laura... Don't you think you are too modest ?... For me, TBL (tailbone) is more or less the same as BCL (butt-crack, right ?) or have I understood it wrong ?? Isn't tailbone = coccys ? If yes, it's exactly were I locate BCL on my person^^. Considering how much growth you had in 2014 on those pictures, you'll be at it in no time, and in two years you'll flirt with classic, no doubt ! (just report your growth of 2014 two time down and you see^^)

No, really, my arse is that big, lol! My milestone measurements, in centimeters:

WL - 77
Hip - 82
BCL - 93
TBL - 103
CL - 113

Right now I am at 86 cm. Tailbone length is the bottom of the coccyx bone, well hidden inside my, ehem, cleavage, lol. So, in one year or so, with no more than 2-3 cm in trims, I'll be at BCL. In two years, TBL. I might stay at TBL for a year, like I said, but I have two more years to think about it.

Here are my end/start of year pictures. I did from March, because that's when I got the stripy dress and it's not good trying to match up the leopard dress. I think you can see differences in the whole year easier with the measuring tape, so I am going to photo spam you all and include both this time (sorry).

Unstretched:

All 9 together: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15049&d=1420163811

With tape:

All 9 together: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15051&d=1420163819

Stretched, look like nothing, seems like something if you count the stripes or look at the coloured blocks on the tape:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15045&d=1420163799

All 9 together: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15044&d=1420163795

Stretched with tape:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15046&d=1420163802

Tailbone as sit length is still evading me:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15048&d=1420163808

I'm just finding this the weirdest length to measure, I am not even sure it is quantifiable any more. I'd be almost ready to call it unstretched side on:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15053&d=1420164023

That's my year! In some ways it looks like I've made some progress, in others it looks like I've made none at all :D Much like my life really!

Happy new year :) All the best for 2015 and wishing you lots of healthy growth in 2015 :)

Well, I am starting my hair journey over again in 2015. I had a recent big chop and this is sadly where I am at right now. I had to chop from waist. I hope to get back to where I was in two years, only undamaged this time!

OK, I think I made a confusion between sacrum bone (which I can feel at the very top of the "cleavage" ^^^^^) and the true tailbone (coccys) which is much inside, like you say. So sacrum would be BCL. Thanks for the anatomic precision, Laura^^. I see that there is almost 10cm between each steps, and that's indeed quite a lot if you consider trimming. But you'll get a nice volume benefit if you catch up your bang, so I think it's a good plan not to rush down. You are already past hip, which is already an awesome length !

It's a common misunderstanding about TBL. Honestly, I never gave so much attention to the anatomy of my rear end until I joined LHC. Ha ha! Yes, I can make a milestone every year if I am very conservative on trimming, all the way to fingertip length. FTL is 122 cm, but after FTL, knee is 150 cm. Almost 3 years of growth between FTL and knee. So, maybe I'll keep with quarterly trims all the way to FTL and then maintain. I don't know. I have time to think about it and change my mind many times before I need to make a decision.

Crystawni, your progress along the year is huge!! We're about the same length to go until we reach waist :cheer:

fiğrildi, your hair is looking amazing! I can't wait to see its true nature; you can really see a fantastic response to your new routine. On to waist, even if it's delicately and gradually for you! :D

Wow, your hair grows at lightening speed. Congrats

Ha, talking of growth--lookit yours! Wow!

Crystawni, I am in awe at how much your hair grew in one year ! And your hemline is still so full and neat !!

Thank you all! :flowers: It's been great to see not only growth on everyone, but how everyone's hair has responded to loving care and attention (or neglect in a way, when it comes to previous heat and styling damage!). And yay, LLL, yours really did grow! :D

Henna. This summer I decided that henna didn't suit me and attempted to remove it to grow out my natural color (which I may not have too much longer considering my age) I had it bleached and it was so damaged I couldn't bear it so I just had it chopped in September. In all fairness to my impulses, I am pregnant and every pregnancy I chop my hair, and apparently this one is no different! I hate it though and want my long hair back. I guess at least it will be healthy when it gets back to waist in a couple years! So sad :(

I've had really good growth, since I've never documented it before I can't say whether its the norm for me or not. My ends are starting to look thin and I think it will be time to microtrim when I finally get to waist.

Happy growing everyone, this has been a fun thread. Now over to the 2015 growth thread.

Sterlyn, your growth and progress are amazing, but your silver hair is just wonderful. Is the left picture your natural colour 12 months ago? It might be a silly question, but I'm just amazed that you got such a dramatic (and beautiful, may I say) colour change in such a short period of time.

Sterlyn
January 5th, 2015, 04:19 PM
Yes I was actually rather shocked when I measured the distance between the lines on the shirt today, it's seems to be about 7.5". I also trimmed 1/2 to 3/4" this summer. *shrugs I had no friggen idea my hair grew this fast.

There may be other factors, I started taking iron again this summer to address my long standing battle with anemia. My levels ended up being really low for awhile and they had probably been that way for a long time. I did notice it seemed to be growing faster the end of summer/fall but I wasn't measuring it. I also started taking collegen too, around the same time, not for hair but to help my joints but it is also supposed to support hair growth.

Who knows, maybe this was a fluke, but I will never again say that my hair grows slow, because clearly it doesn't. I measured my hair today, and it has grown an inch since last month, from 24 to 25" you could have knocked me over with a feather. Still shaking my head over it.

It is, the first pic is before I realized that light colored hair (silver or blondes too) can be affected by products and water build up. One of the few drawbacks to this color (at least for me) is a constant battle with ingredients and my water building up and temporarily changing my color. I have since started regularly using a chelating shampoo or SLS, vinegar rinses and adding purple to my conditioners, as I have found it helps fight the dingy's. Our water seems to deposit a reddish- brown tint on my hair and yellowing is also a problem.

It's been a learning curve but when I stumbled across the blonde thread (share tips etc, can't remember the exact name) I realized those with blonde hair were struggling with the same issues and I wasn't imagining my hair looking darker sometimes. The second pic was taken after a chelating shampoo followed by a vinegar rinse and that seems to really brighten my hair up.

That's very interesting. You're doing a great job, your hair colour looks splendid! I'm not a blonde (my hair is between dark blonde and light chestnut), but I do notice that my hair looks lighter when I've clarified. Oil makes my hair look much darker, and ACV makes it redder. Next week I'll be moving to a place where water supply is untreated -it comes directly from the mountains and underground springs-, it'll be interesting to see if my hair changes colour or stays the same.

I have noticed the oil gives my hair a yellow tint, I have never used ACV since I stopped dyeing my hair for that reason. I would be curious to hear if your hair is happier with the change in water. I have often wondered if rain water would be better on my hair, if I had a way to collect it I would have already tried it :p
