Hey guys,

Im super late with my updates here. I keep remembering!!!

But the reason has been that I need to dye my hair! (Box dye!) And its been sooooo cold, that Im wearing 3 sweaters and I cant dye with all those clothes. Plus, I need to drag a gas heater to the bathroom and the whole thing is so messy and cumbersome that ive been putting it off. I noticed it has grown a bit but....

Well see, one of these days Ill have to do it and not wear it all tied up like I do now and then take the pictures. Hopefully itll show a difference.

:knit::sleep:

Ps: Oh yeah, and being short, chubby, short-haired, old-er, single, and renegray!? Not ready yet :shake:)

My very late length shot. April to July.

I didn't straighten this month, only wrapped it straight whilst drying. Oh, and I had a little trim this month to get a u hemline.

Noticeable growth there butterfly! Good going! :bluesmile

I love seeing all these progress pictures =) If anyone needs help lining up pictures or anything paint/photoshop related like that, I'm more than happy to do it. I haven't posted anything since my 1 year post-pixie anniversary on May 1st, because I feel like monthly pictures are kind of overkill at this point. Shoulder-Collarbone territory is nothing new to me, but I haven't passed collarbone since 2006. Soooo I'm just gonna start taking pics every 3 months. I'll take one in August, November, February, and then May on my 2 year anniversary. Just wanted to let you all know that I didn't drop out of this thread totally. =P

Hi,

On a change of mind people, here you go!

This is how much my hair has "grown" in the past three months, like, => :tbear::

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=11767&d=1405031181

The texture its also pretty bad because Ive been oiling and combing and just .

When I get my act together Ill put the line up with the growth to show with the stripy shirt.

Jennah, I think your silver streak looks cool. :)

Here is my July picture. I guess I'm in the Mid-back Abyss now. It doesn't feel too abysmal. I think I've been growing so long that I'm feeling much more relaxed about it.

And congrats on your growth!!! Just amazing! Thick, beautiful, full, and very, very, long in no time! What a difference since Jan! :puppykisses:

Thank you all so much for the comments. One thing I've realized doing this project, is that my hair gets noticeably wavier in the summer. I took some sporadic pictures in 2013 and when I look back that those, the summer pictures also look wavier. I guess it's the humidity or something like that.

I think your hair has gained a whole stripe this month stachelbeere? :D I counted 9 black stripes in June's picture and 10 stripes in July's. Your hair is starting to look properly long to me, if you know what I mean? :bounce:

Thank you cathair, Johannah and duchess67 :D I think my hair has grown a little bit more than averagely this month (and I think it does look longish [or on the verge of long] but in non-LHC standards hehe) - after I posted the picture though I noticed that in the July picture my body is slightly bigger than in the June one. oh well ;)

I think my hemline is the same, but I only managed to take a better shot as my hair was freshly washed and I let it get dry completely :)

These are the first 6 months of this year. I've cut 2.5" through these months, so guess my growth isn't that bad.

There's not really a difference between June and July so I'm not posting it right now. I'll post some comparisons in a couple of months or so, I'm benign neglecting anyway.

Hey guys, first off im so sorry that i havent been able to catch up with you all and congratulate each of you for your growth, been so busy with a lot of things but i have had a chance to scroll through and admire everyones growth because i find it very inspirational and im glad that im not the only one going on this jorney of sharing monthly pictures :)

Here are my shots as usual. The past 2 months i have trimmed a LOT and mostly by accident and also becuase i forgot that i trimmed the month before... thats called having a "mummy brain failure" :)) Anyhow, NO MORE trimming now! I dont feel like i need to do so for another few months. My ends are in fantastic condition. I am also happy to announce that i am now at 32 inches!!!! Once i hit 33, i will be officially at hip!!!! So happy!!!! Here are my pictures. Im so very sorry that these photos are so huge, i dont have time to edit them anymore because i already spend over half an hour adjusting to a new photo program and now its passed my kids bedtime... its crazy here i really must go sorry :(

Your hair is amazing Tini! I think it's grown more in 6 months than mine has in two years :) It's look fantastic :)

These are my July pictures, they are also my 2 year LHC anniversary pictures. I posted more pictures in my blog, I didn't think they were really Mane forum worthy!

I think it looks like it has got shorter this month untretched, but maybe another strip stretched? It's strange how it hardly looks like it has grown in 6 months. But when I compared last July's picture to this July's picture in my blog, it looked like it had grown 5 or 6 inches! I dunno... pictures anyway :)

Thanks duchess67 :flower: I find it so much easier to see in pictures taken over a longer time period, but I guess that goes without saying really. I agree, I think we do have a very similar hair type :) Is that a comb holding you hair up in your avatar pic? It looks really pretty :)

Ahhh what a crazy week im having. Anyhow, I will now ignore real life and dive in here to try and catch up with some of you :) This may be a pretty long post because i havent been on since my last shots :o gah!
Oh and one mention is that i really dont like my photos haha Yup, I actually don’t! These shots are done in my bathroom because the windowsill there is high enough to hold my cam (I dont have a tripod) but the light in there its ridiculously bright! We have 3 heating lights which hang right above me and are super bright and shows every single strand thats out of place in my hair, it also shows a different color - I know my hair looks so much better under regular light but anyway, its the best i can do.
Jennah, Thank you sooo very much!!!! Right now im at 32 inches, I consider solid hip at 33 inches. Right now im only at hip when fully wet after a shower but when dry, it bounces up a bit so being at 33 inches, can give a "not a doubt thats HIP!" conclusion haha. REALLY cold here to on some days, it is winter after all tho. Your hair looks so rich, beautiful!
butterflybutton Wow your hair is now so wavy, nice growth to!
Federica Thats pretty much where i am, but im not calling hip yet just because I like to be a tinny bit passed it for peace of mind. I would say hip on you tho, nice growth!
Ashflower, I will take you up on that offer please, i have never tried lining up my pictures. I will msg you as soon as im done here :) I was originally going to only take pictures every few months but im so glad that i didnt, just wear a really good stripy shirt and you shell see a bit of growth each month, you may be surprised!
XcaliburGirl Amazing progress and your thickness oh wow! Love it!
stachelbeere Congrats on your growth! Look at just how shinny your hair is! and so straight! Lots of growth , congrats! Thank you as well, gosh i hope so!!!
Johannah Your hemline looks amazing! Lots of growth, congrats on all of your progress! Good so finally see some pictures! Thank you as well!
cathair Thank you so much! You only have about 4 stripes left before your dress becomes to short to use for monthly shots *smiles*, congrats on your progress.
FallingDarkness I can see a difference, congrats. Its difficult to tell with your kinds of shots tho. The others have already given good tips on how to do better mirror shots i see...
patienceneeded Wow, SO MUCH growth, congrats!!! I think you and i are now pretty much in a race as to WHICH one of us will make it to a solid hip FIRST haha
askan I agree, your hair has noticeable growth! congrats!
LLL I like making predictions to so my turn haha hmmm... I will say that I will be half way from hip to TBL if not TBL - i hope! Unless im dreaming TO BIG! Congrats on your growth - i know im a bit late but im pretty sure i also congratulated you on fb when you just posted these as well... I hope. Gosh i have a lot of catching up to do!
lauramuur Very hard to tell without a stripy/markings on the shirt tho. I dont think it looks dry. Stunning hair as always!
Arwenlily Beautiful growth and your hair is more and more stunning the more length you gain, congrats!
Stray_mind Your hair is so thick!
redtuss I see growth! Sorry that its not faster tho, Your hair looks so beautiful as always!
dutchess67 Amazing hair progress and so good to see all of your pictures perfectly lined up. Did i read somewhere in the comments that you may try to see if you're a curly? I think you could be a curly tho, for now you can just start with plopping and then go from there to see what gives the best waves/curl results. Congrats on your growth!!! Omg, you will need a longer shirt soon!!!!
two_wheels Congrats on your growth!!!
noteve Its best that you use a shirt with some type of markers tho like a stripy shirt because its hard to tell this way especially if you're standing at different distances away... Very pretty hair tho, sorry hard to tell about growth tho but your hair has certainly grown a lot since that first picture.
TrapperCreekD Beautiful hair and such nice growth!!! Congrats!
ashke50 Oh but your hair, so so so stunning!!! Your hemline looks FANTASTIC!!! Congrats on all of your progress!
JessicaAnn side bangs with a face framing layers for sure! It would suit you well, even just the bangs alone!
HairFaerie Such gorgeous colour on your, congrats on your growth!
Welcome to the club Lazy Loop, you might want to stand a lil further away from the camera because it wont be long before your hair will cover all of those stripes. Great shot tho!
Crystawni Such beautiful soft waves, congrats on your growth!
Katyusha Amazing growth!! Congrats!
Heavy Raindrops I see lots of good growth there, congrats!!!
Sparklylady82 Oh such beautiful hair, I see amazing growth straight away!!! Congrats!
lulana Congrats on such fantastic growth!

Holding my fingers crossed so i would be at APL by the time i take the picture. Need another centimeter to reach that lenght solidly.

Hang in there Stray_mind, you know i also started growing from just above shoulder length, took me 2 years to get to waist which i thought would never happen!!! I have a really long torso as well, hip to tailbone will be the biggest milestone to cover which im not looking forward to :( Anyhow, your hair is looking thick and thats a good thing because you can play around with it, have layers if you want later on or grow to great lengths. What is your pony circ.?

Haha it will stachelbeere, I think our hair is pretty similar, I can make mine look a lot fuller (which i LOVE!) with dutch braids starting from the very top otherwise, my hair gets pretty straight, and thats ok. Throwing lots of growth dust your way :)

Thats it! two_wheels. This is also my favorite and pretty much the only thread i have time to follow :)

It will! katyusha! :) Whats your goal? Your dutch braid is so neat in your siggy.

*blushes* noway Federica, I have such rubish pictures of my hair in these pictures but i highly appriciate your super awesome comment - makes my day! :D

Thank you Arwnlily!

It's aout 8 to 9 centimeters. I can't get the exact number, but i say it's 8, because if i'd squeeze it very tightly it would probably be 8cm (3.14 in inches). I guess it's medium thickness, but my hair has a strange wave going on, so it allways looks fuller than it really is.

Hello, everyone! I hope it's okay to jump in like this almost eight months late. I recently discovered this forum, and it has been such a treasure. You all have excellent hair! A bit about my hair history: in 2012, my hair almost reached classic length, but I had terrible breakage during a bad bleach job. I was too stubborn to give my hair the corrective cut that it need so now, two years later, I've cut it to BSL (big change!) and I'm starting from scratch. It's going to be a long journey, but here goes nothing.

My hair, as of July 21, 2014, 24" (I think?)

Welcome to the thread, Laura!
I had your same bleaching disaster on classic lenght hair and cutted it to BSL, so I can feel your pain in growing it back.
You hem is perfect and your hair now seems really healty and shining and virgin, you'll grow it back easily, you'll see.

Thank you so much, Remi, Wosie, LauraLongLocks (good name indeed!), Federica, Stray_mind, and stachelbeere!

Wosie, I absolutely love your hair. As for mine, my boyfriend is the one who measures and he has a hard time getting a consistent measurement. So 24" could be way off, lol.

Laura_F, Big thanks for the compliment (made me so happy)! :flower: Does he also stretch your hair when he measures it? I have a feeling my hair'd be ~24" if I didn't stretch it (+ didn't count my widow's peak :o).

---

Only eight days left until August 1st. Good luck to everyone; I hope your hair's been growing lots. :D

Laura_F, nope - I don't even use the tape measure to monitor my growth, I just can't get it right. For instance, My hair was 22" long for half a year - and actually, it was growing longer, I was just doing it wrong :/

Stray_mind I get a bit of puffiness/fullness especially on the first few hours after a wash but then it goes stick straight again. Your pony circ isnt far off mine actually.

For sure! Johannah! Whats your goal length tho? I just cant wait to get out of the familiar territory already... patience huh :) I think I will wait to be 33 inches before officially calling hip, I keep changing my mind... ah well.

Anytime duchess67 :) Very happy to do so, this is my favourite thread! Gosh, I dont dont know what i will do once i reach my goal :o but thats still a while to go :p Hows everything?

Katyusha Mine is classic, always has been :D Thats ok, whats your name on fb? I go there a lot in the groups and ive been adding a lot of people but i dont think we are friend on fb yet?

Laura_F What an amazing beautiful super shinny mane you got!!! I just love your color!!! SO shocked to hear where you cut from, thats a HUGE change BUT, you have an amazing starter length right now and seriosly you will make everyone go in awe the longer your hair gets! Congrats!

Wosie I measure when my hair is damp to avoid any weird shrinkage.

Hi everyone ! I'm running into a problem -- my hair is too long to photograph in my bathroom mirror! Hehe, I'll try for a photo in my full length mirror tomorrow. Just measured. I've trimmed it into a V-shape, and the longest pieces are at 31". Yay!!

I'm still trying to figure that out, haha! Sometimes I think hip is enough, 5 min later I think I want TBL. Probably it'll be something in between like BCL :P Time will tell! I'm trying to benign neglect right now so I don't think about it, and I'm busy expanding my hair toy collection. My next challenge is to wear my hair up till the end of June (again). Today is day 305, next June will be day 645! Better have some nice hair toys then :D

And yes, I'll consider myself hip at 33" as well, or maybe 34". My hair went from 1c to 2a so it looks shorter. :)

Hey yall!
I'm posting my pic for August 1st a few days early because I'm going to be out of town for my measuring day! I got a trim and I honestly don't think that my hair grew like at all since the beginning of July, so... Here goes.

I've been purposely ignoring this thread because I am getting a mixture of impatient and worried about my next length photo and measurement. I want to do it, but I am afraid of being disappointed. I trimmed 5 mm on June 1st and a centimeter July 1st. I hope I gained it back. The end of the month seems to take forever! Seriously, the last week of the month is the longest week and then the first week or two of the month are the fastest.

And LauraLongLocks, I know how you feel. I think we all are afraid to measure our hair, to take pictures, to find out if we're closer to the nearest hair landmark. I'm always afraid of being disappointed, and I really just rely on other LHC members' comments to give me an accurate idea as to whether my hair grew or not because I'm sooo biased against my own hair. I'm sure your hair grew more than you thought it did! :D Take a pic of your new growth and post it here so we can all marvel at your stunning locks.

Winter is definitely stifling my growth. This month I gained 1cm, compared to 1.5cm last month and 2.5cm the month before, bringing me to 66cm all up (26"). My growth has certainly slowed over the cooler months, but it looks like the warmer stuff is sneaking back already. :) As long as it's growing, I'm not really fussed, and at least I got to call BSL this month!

Today's progress shot was 2 days after wash day, and still getting a bit of kick in the curl. And yup, different times of the day gives me a whole 'nother colour... :p

I was going to measure my hair once per month just to see the rate on which it possibly growing... I measured last time on 30th of may, or better to say my husband helped me to measure it and it was 88,5 cm ( just under 35 inches) , well I measured my hair today all alone at it was 97,5 cm (38,4 inches). Eather my hair had some dramatic growth in one month ( I really doubt that ) or men are not reliable in measuring ( which I believe to be closer to the truth ). Anyway, this makes me sad... I was so expecting and curious to see if anything happend and if did then how much :)

Measured today and my hair and the longest strand is 99 cm. So it supposely growe 1,5 cm. So nothing huge ;) But honestly I do not trust the whole measuring system ;) Just wanted to try it out :D

Here is my progress from June to August. I will be out of town so I took my length photo a few days early. I trimmed off about an inch last week so my hair is only .5 inch longer than where I started in June--as you can see. I didn't mean to trim so much...newbie at self trimming

Thank you Laura_F :) Your hair looks like it has grown, i recommend that you wear some sort of patterned shirt to pint point and SHOW exactly how much it has each month. Congrats!
Katyusha, awesome chatting to you on fb ;)
Stray_mind, it seems to be 6cm, i KNOW i had it thicker than this but after two kids... I think it has thinned a fair bit. I dont know if its possible to have a good looking hemline with this kind of pony circ, what if it will look to thin? I really want to be at classic but TBL might be the furthest i can stretch it to... I just dont think i can settle for hip IF tbl dosnt work out either... im a bit afraid to see what will happen :(
FallingDarkness Oh WOW, that is amazing! Your hair has grown SO MUCH, its now so much closer to your waist line then before. Congrats!!!
Thank you Jennah :)
Same now LLL, I always fear that i might not have much growth but also because my stripy shirt has such a HUGE gap of 2.5cm, If i dont cover a stripe then its pretty hard to tell whats going on which makes me think, is it to late to use a different shirt with a bit more pattern? I really want to do that actually, I have this very snug top which will show any slight amount of growth... What to do? :(
Crystawni, your hairs growth in these pictures is fantastic!!! And WOW, seriously, what a colour shock in your last picture, dosnt look like the same hair haha I get it to tho :)
Sparklylady82, Its difficult to say how much your hair has grown because each shot is different than the last. I would keep the full body shot at least, it will deffinatly show your growth next month. Beautiful hair!
two_wheels, your hair has grown SO MUCH since last month :O By next month you will be APL, or at least touching :) CONGRATS!!!

Tini-i've seen your hair pictures and your hemline is anything but bad looking.. And if it is (to you) -you can allways thicken it up with microtrimming. I've also seen people here and there with not so thick hemlines and yet their hair looked amazing, so no worries. I myself am not happy with my hair thickness (want thicker hair), but now i changed my way of thinking into "the most important is to keep it healthy." No matter if you have thin or thick hair and hemline-if your hair is healthy-it will look beautiful. :)

irodaryne It's a nice start. Congratulations on getting to shoulder!
Tini'sNewHair It was nice talking to you too! Where is your length picture?
Wosie Your hair looks so shiny! I wish mind would to but unfortunately I'm still getting rid of dye damage :(

Here is my monthly length photo. It looks like I haven't made any progress since January! I had a quite big trim in April and as you can see hair dresser messed it up and one side is shorter than the other. I have cut my hair two days ago so there is not much growth to be seen. I was trying to even up those messed up sides. It was my first trim and I think I'm satisfied with results. Even if there is not much growth I am at least I'm getting rid of damage. That is something right? Better to have healthy shorter hair than longer and damage. Right guys?

Wosie Thank you very much. It's a fact that you have amazing hair. Also I don't use henna. The last time I used hair dye was in may. The only reason I did that is because roots were showing and I wanted to even everything out with my natural colour. It has been a year since I went from black to my natural colour. And actually this is how my natural colour looks like so I won't need to dye my hair again :o

LLL, I love your bangs growth shots! Growing fast too.

I took my picture on the right day in July (20th) but then forgot to post it here. Oops! I measure the same as last month (42.5 inches), but hair does look slightly longer, despite the braidwaves.

Hey guys!

Here is my July update. Its like it doesnt grow!

It does feel longer when I grab it and by the way it looks down, but in the pictures it has a personality of its own. I dont know....I also wore the same stripy shirt but the sun blinded the colors. :?

two_wheels what do you use to line up your pictures??
Stray_mind im only worried about my hemline when it gets longer, i can just see only a few strands wanting to grow the extra mile since my hair is on the thin side :( But yes, thats what im trying to focuse on now, to have hair in good condition so that if i do reach my terminal earlier on then I will reach it with pride lol
Wosie, where are the rest of the pictures for comparison? :O Your hair looks beautiful, my hair never sits THAT great and shinny when the length shots are done. How much has it grown?
Katyusha You have come such a LONG way, especially seeing those pictures you showed me on FB. Your hair is looking amazing right now, you should feel proud :) Look at that awesome hemline!
Looking good LLL, I can see a great difference in your hemline and good growing out those bangs, its happening at such fast rate!
ashke50 I think that it has defiantly grown a bit because those braid waves will take some of your length. Looking simply amazing as always! Congrats!
What program do you use to line up your pictures?

My next shot is on the 17, Cant wait! :D Also, do you guys pay to have photoshop? Im still looking for a program where i can line up 8 pictures perfectly...

I think I'm satisfied with results. Even if there is not much growth I am at least I'm getting rid of damage. That is something right? Better to have healthy shorter hair than longer and damage. Right guys?

Your hair is looking great! Really thick and healthy in the last pictures, good job!

Finally time for my growth update! Taking length shots every single month was making me really antsy and obsessive about my hair, so after I hit 1 year post-pixie, I decided to just start taking quarterly pics (every 3 months). It seems that I only grow about a quarter inch a month sadly, probably due to my not-so-healthy diet. Talk about slooow going... Anyway, now that I'm out of pixie territory, I can take back shots and actually see progress! So here's my update:

Thanks Tini!

I use Photoshop Elements to line up my pictures. I'm no expert, but I've managed to get them fairly closely aligned. Elements is a lot cheaper than the full version, although there are probably free programs that would be just as good for this purpose.

LLL it looks lovely, well past your elbows compared to January. Did the sides catch up a bit this month, too?

Ashke50 fantastic progress pics. It looks longer to me too. I don't trust the tape.

Jennah, those beautiful curls must be making it slower. But the up-side is- beautiful curls!

Tini, I use Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) editing software, which is free and I think it's very good. I crop each image to the same markers (top = same distance above head, sides = same points on my arms, bottom = same bit of my dress) and that makes all the pics line up proportionally, though they're different sizes. Then I use the filmstrip feature to make them all the same size & put them in a row. There is probably another way of aligning them with Gimp, as it comes with a lot of functionality, but I just do it that way.

Ashflower89 those progress photos could all have been me last year. You are at exactly the same point on the same months Jan - Jul. Spooky! I found it all a bit tiresome until this spring. Wish I'd found a stripey top so I could see progress, so maybe do that?

Eva888, that is great progress!

Tini I know, It also feels better. But it's a sad thing you have to chop every progress you make because of stupidity 2-3 years ago when deciding to go black. Ah well at least it grows :o

ashke50 I use photoshop. And don't worry Tini will use me every month from now on to align those photos  And I don't mind :wigtongue

Katyusha, Your kind compliments truly made yesterday's evening way better. :flowers: I'm envious of your natural hair colour, it looks beautiful. :thud:

two_wheels, Haha, now I'm getting a little uncertain... But nah, I do think I mostly have a mix of medium and coarse hair. I see lots of thread-y wiry hairs around my head in a 'magnificent' gloria whenever I see myself in the mirror. -_-' But maybe my hair is more medium-y than I originally thought. (Hmm, maybe I should do this hair analysis over at etsy to make sure once and for all... :hmm:)

Tini, I have last month's picture in one of my LHC photo albums if you want to see. :o I didn't want to include it here as I don't like it (it's still wet after a hair wash + that the olive oil treatment I did before the hair wash wasn't washed out properly which made it look greasy and icky)! But I have all month's pictures from January and onwards there.
Oh, thank you! I had a really nice hair day yesterday -- my hair normally doesn't lie like that either, all tame. o_O I did do some things I don't normally do to my hair prior to the picture taking, so I'll try it again the next time I wash and see if it still works as well then. *crosses fingers*

My hair has grown 4.5 cm (1.8") since March (when I started measuring), but I made several haircuts since then... Due to an uneven hemline. From here on I won't cut it until December at least, so it'll be interesting to see what happens! Finally I'm satisfied with my hemline. :)

Jennah, Aww, thank you. :flower: Your hair has clearly grown, it's just that it isn't as noticeable with curly hair as it sproings into itself... if that makes sense. :o But once it gets long enough (and heavy enough), it might look long all of a sudden. :) What is your goal length at the moment?

I am going to need a new dress/outfit for my monthly length photo next month because I am outgrowing my current one quickly. I dislike early pregnancy because I'm too fat, yet I don't look pregnant, and figuring out what fits every day is annoying. Wish me luck in finding something with a pattern... most of my maternity tops are solid colors.

Katyusha, I mixed some coconut oil and aloe vera gel and left it in for a day or so and then washed it out... Slept on my wet hair and woke up to a great hair day! x) It's really odd how hair works, I thought I'd have a bad hair day as I slept on it in that state... o_O
Otherwise I don't do much for my shine, except for a weekly ACV rinse (it really helps) and a coconut oil soak before washing and a little jojoba oil after washing. I also have to add that using the camera's flash function really makes one's hair look shinier! *-*

askan, Your hair is growing very fast. =o It looks like we have around the same length! Good luck for us both on the journey to BSL. :cheer:

Congratulations! Your hair growth calculations are out the window since pregnancy hormones do wonders for hair growth. I'm planning a fourth pregnancy myself, and assume I'll get a bonus foot of hair in the process, again... Well, this is pregnancy #12 for me, and I have never experienced a boost in thickness or my growth rate due to pregnancy. However, the upside of this is that I have also never had a postpartum shed. Good thing, too, or I would be bald by now.

Everyone, the growth I see in your pictures is just amazing.

I've started microtrimming 5 mm every month and will continue with that for the next year or so. I'm not expecting a lot more length change this year because of it. I will be very glad to be rid of my final hemline layer, even though it blends fairly well. It is just difficult to keep in good condition because it splits quite a bit from not having a proper trim in so long.

Thanks ashke50, I will have a look at that program as well :)
I downloaded Gimp, two_wheels and OMYGOSH i have no idea what to do haha I got to spend some time to navigate it i guess. Much appreciated tho!
katyusha You will be my saviour with these pics for a while until I can figure out a way to do them myself :( <3 Dont focuse to much on length, trust me i done that mistake and then I was forced to chop it all back anyway so its pointless, you are on the right path to make sure that your hemline is up to stratch first and THEN grow it out.
Aww Wosie, I dont like half of my shots, they're crap! BUT the purpose is not to show the best pictures you have but to track grown so thats all i care about haha

I really need to S&D my hair, I was horrified to see so many splits in my hair when i was in the car on a family trip last weekend. I just havent had the time to do that OR the right lighting. I WILL get this hair split free again, i KNOW it can be done :(

Wosie
August 7th, 2014, 04:04 AM
Tini, Indeed, splits are much easier shown in cars and trains... I was sitting in a train in May, looking at my sister's and my own hair and hers was sadly incredibly split (I didn't say that to her, though, didn't want to make her feel bad) but I could definitely see some in mine too even though I take my time to S&D ~bi-weekly. I guess it's the smartest to always S&D in natural light, as you see the 'hidden' splits way better then!

You are right about not being afraid of showing the not-good-looking pictures as well; I'm not normally worried about showing any kind of hair pictures but for some reason showing hair that looks greasy is another thing.

duchess67, I just have to say that your hair looks like a 2c in hiding. :o (Did you try the curly girl method yet?) Also, your hair is growing very quickly! *compares January pic to August pic :thud:*

I'm in awe, what a fabulous brood you have! Earth mother extraordinaire!
Sorry to get off topic....

I'm having big chop urges as I'm hating my hair. My 3" long tufts of regrowth after my postpartum shed look so messy sticking straight up on the top of my head and especially my hairline. Hate everything about my hair right now. It did glow a pretty ruby color at my outdoor wedding 2 weeks ago though.in photos @least.

B]duchess67 Such amazing growth seriously you will need to think of wearing a longer top now :) CONGRATS!!!!!

I really need to S&D my hair, I was horrified to see so many splits in my hair when i was in the car on a family trip last weekend. I just havent had the time to do that OR the right lighting. I WILL get this hair split free again, i KNOW it can be done :(

Thank you so much, Tini. You are sweet as always! You have such beautiful hair, and I'm sure you'll get your hair split free in no time :D

duchess67 as I said I don't mind helping ;)

Tini'sNewHair I'm glad I can help you too :D You are probably right that it's better to have my hair in good shape from the start. But it's still a very long process.

Thank you my friend, Katyusha! You are so kind to help us with your computer skills :)

duchess67, I just have to say that your hair looks like a 2c in hiding. :o (Did you try the curly girl method yet?) Also, your hair is growing very quickly! *compares January pic to August pic :thud:*

Thank you, Wosie :D that is one sweet comment! I didn't know that my hair falls in the 2c category, guess I will have to change the settings. I tried the curly girl method, somehow wasn't a fan of it. So now I just don't bother with it, after washing my hair, air dry it. As soon as it dries up goes my hair in a bun. That's my routine :)

I never looked at your stats Duchess67, but I always assumed you were a very-wavy or a curly, too. And tremendous progress! Time to go shopping for a stripey dress...

Good luck with Gimp, Tini! Quick list of shortcuts to get you started:
Press R = select rectangle, then you can crop to the selection
Press Shift+T = resize (I like to click the lock button to lock down the width:height ratio, then set height = 350)
Menu Filters > Combine > Filmstrip = choose photos to make into a filmstrip. Turn off numbers & advanced > set hole height to zero for minimal naffness
Menu File > Export as = export your work to jpg or png or whatever

Alright I've been lurking on this thread a whole month, watching everyone's progress... and I deleted the pics I took for July by accident! I had a less-awesome one, and it doesn't matter considering how dastardly short my hair is. Still, if I have to post here every month it will keep me from getting bored and snipping at it.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y266/Keyake/IMG_20140807_173420-1_zps681ae3c7.jpg

I know my head is tilted differently... I was able to measure my roots from hennaing so I know it really only got maybe a tiny bit over half an inch of growth. Still, I'm determined to chart the visual of it too.

You have 11 kids and look so svelte & stretch mark free in your bikini pic? Now that's what I call thudworthy!
I'm in awe, what a fabulous brood you have! Earth mother extraordinaire!
Sorry to get off topic....

Thanks. That's sort of why I did the photo shoot, to show that having children doesn't have to destroy a woman's body. I do have stretch marks, but they are limited to the hips/low back and a few teeny ones below my belly button. But no, I lucked out and didn't get a road map belly. Maybe it's because I had my first child at such a young age and my skin was young and elastic. I didn't get new stretch marks with subsequent pregnancies, only with my first. /end thread hijack

Hey guys, (especially Wosie), I just want to show how my hair looks when i CARE for it properly and not just take a quick snap shot for monthly photos haha. Here I apply a bit of coconut oil when damp and then i brush it through, the result is THIS and thats when i LOVE my hair where as for my monthly shots, I just let it dry and take a photo as it is :p Pretty BIG difference i say! :p

LilyMarleen
August 10th, 2014, 03:41 PM
Thank you moontree. My handle is inspired by an old German (soldier) love song by Lale Andersen. The Leonard Cohen song refers to that song though. (Way too many "songs")

Yes Wosie I measured that way. But I'm really short (1,55 m or 5'1/2") so it looks longer on me. Good for me because I can reach the milestones easier. :happydance:

LilyMarleen, Ah, I see. ;) You've already come quite far! *thumbs up* What is your goal? I can see it's 32", is that classic on you?

Tini, As my hair still had olive oil in it, it looked too shiny (greasy-shiny xP)... and stringy. I get ickied out when my hair looks that greasy, and I didn't want for anybody to look at my hair and feel the same feeling. :o Either way, I will not hide away my monthly pictures again, I promise. :)

Hello everyone!
Such amazing growth I see around here, I can barely compare.
I'm still trimming a lot to get rid of my bangs and even up my hemline, so I'm not gaining much lenght but my ends are so happy.
And, hopefully, I can ACTUALLY call this hip. Or at least I think.
First picture is from July 10, second one from today.

Here is my August picture comparison. It actually looks about the same or even shorter than July. Part of that might be how the shirt was sitting. Waist is somewhere around those three white lines, but I probably will call it when I can feel the ends on my thumbs with my hands at waist.

:D Bravo! Just recapped this months' posts and everyone has had great success/growth!! :hifive:

I did not get an August pic, but I measured today.

18", which is 1" longer than July (but its almost been a month and 1/2).

I have about 5-6" to get to APL (maybe by Valentine's Day??). But I have now recovered, and surpassed my starting length here, by 1". I did a major "damage" chop earlier. I have not cut since starting this thread challenge, and don't plan to until at least APL. If it's needed.

For July, I have just barely been able to get a decent ponytail, and last week a french twist. Feels so good on hot days!!!

Hope to be on track for a September shot

Federica Your hemline looks AMAZING, I see a HUGE difference!! Also, of course you are at HIP, congrats!!!!!! I'm thinking of maintaining at hip as well so that my bangs can also catch up to the rest of my length... hmmm But I might wait to grow another inch.
XcaliburGirl, Fantastic growth!!!! Your will at waist in no time, so close! Congrats on your growth!
butterflybutton, You are certainly at shoulder now, very much on your way to APL. Congrats on your growth!

As for me, my next shots is in 4 days now :D I just reached 84 cm so 33 inches which is Officially HIP!!! So happy to be able to call hip :D I'm due for a wash today after which I will try take a good picture to use for my siggy last siggy picture was when I hit waist so time for a change!!! I'm contemplating to stop at hip for a couple of months to allow my fringe to catch up BUT I would like to be a couple of inches longer maybe... Hmm, actually I would LOVE to be at pants line first which is another 2 inches thinkI will have to check my hemline and think about it for a bit.

monthly measure photo for August
I'm really late this time maybe the reason is that i cut back because of thinning ends.
I felt quite insicure the last months because i get a lot of feedback from friends and familiy that my hair don't look good with those almost invisible ends.

So i allowed my hubby to cut 7cm (2,7 inches)

This is a Photo for and after the cut:

katyushka... hmm how can you tell I tilted my head? I'm not sure, I always let my nose touch the wall to avoid tilting my head but maybe I still did it?

Stach I believe your hair is tilted as well, you're facing forward a lil to much, I always have trouble keeping my posture straight thats why for length shots I always wear a book on my head :) thank you all for the comments, im on my mobile now hard to get your names. I will try believe you if you say you see a difference in my last two shots, I should of measured with my tape as well. Actually I need to start using the tape as well so that I know exactly how much growth I get for when I will need to maintain my hem :)

Tini, it looks like your hair filled out the line, as if they caught up :)

okay - I shall repeat my length shot tomorrow or on Tuesday, as my hair is still accidentally over-oiled and bun-waved. with a book on my head then :)

I think my pictures always look like I'm tilting my head forward a bit but I'm not. I stand with my nose touching the wall too. I've tried pushing my head back so there is no tilt, but it's really unnatural and uncomfortable. As long as it stays the same each time I don't think it matters. I can see growth anyway stachelbeere :) Your hair on the left is definitely reaching into the next white stripe now :)

Oh guys i'm SOOO happy that I now KNOW how much my hair grows each months!!!!! I just placed the tape measuring over the stripey shirt I use for my monthly pictures and I compared that to each photo I took every month. Here are the results:

I will be at my goal of classic in 1 year and roughly 1 month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I will reach BCL in just 4 months and then TBL 5 months later!!) My avarage growth seems to be 2cm a month. Here is my growth so far

17 Jan 2014 -- 70cm
17 Feb 2014 -- 74cm
17 March 2014 -- 76cm (trimmed/unknown ammount)
17 April 2014 -- 77cm
17 May 2014 -- 79cm (trimmed/unknown ammount)
17 June 2014 -- 80cm
17 July 2014 -- 82cm

I plan to stop at BCL and maintain my hemline until about 2-3 inches are gone so that way every single shorter hair is caught up and I should have a super blunt hemline like ive always wanted :) It seems like i may reach BCL by xmass which is nice :) :happydance:

Tini, I really love how you measured the stripes and analised how much you grew each month :D I'm pretty sure BCL is absolutely doable for you for Christmas :) and yes, feel free to abbreviate :D
Cathair, I agree... I also have this straightened and uncomfortable posture to take my monthly length shots :P

Anyway i repeated the August shot and I think I didn't tilt my head. in fact, I now have three photos :P

Notice the gap in my hemline in the right picture? I'm not sure what causes this to be honest but it bothers me every time my hair somehow manages to arrange itself so the gap is visible. Does anyone have the same problem? I'm not sure what caused this. Possibly a trimming error? Or maybe a widows peak in my nape hair line? [I totally have one!]

Also, notice Harry Potter. Bonus points for knowing which book it is :P

Beautiful as always, Tini! How come you don't see any growth, it's quite apparent in the photo that your hair grew. Between July and August I do see tremendous growth. Your have amazingly beautiful hair and excellent growth! Congrats!

I also love how you calculated your monthly growth by using your striped shirt :)

It does look like a trimming error to me. Once your hair reaches your desired length, you can straighten the hemline if you like. Using a book to keep our head straight is an awesome idea. Think it was Tini who used a book in her monthly progress pictures. Next month I might probably use a book to keep my head straight.

oh okay... I was planning to maintain at waist or so to even out my hemline, I hope that will fix my problem. It doesn't really bother me but on photos it sometimes shows.

Nice, stachelbeere, I commend you for having a Harry Potter book (OotP) on your head. ;)

Yes! :D I was thinking of using all the books for each month when I realised that I only have three HP books at home :/
Oh... now I'm thinking it'd be pretty cool to balance all 7 books at once and take a photo [<-- this is my brain after midnight]

Johannah, How many inches on YOU? BCL on me its around 36 inches (92cm), but with my calculated growth rate, I will get there in 5 months... round xmass or jan the latest.

Stach, could that middle parting in your hemline be from the way you do updos? I have this happened sometimes but on the sides and it usually happens from buns (hairstick buns). Also I think that your waist line has to be a little more UP. I wouldnt try to balance that many HP books tho :scared:haha Your hair is looking so neat, so shinny :)

Congrats on the growth bunzfan, your hair is looking amazing! :)

thank you so much duchess67!!!! :flowers: I just didnt take a proper look but I know there has been growth because i remembers the numbers which now matches the shirt as well :)

hey Tini - yes the waist line is definitely incorrect, it needs to go up - or I've been resizing wrongly, I'll probably correct this next month. which picture should I choose then for August? :P
haha I think balancing all the HP books would end really badly...

It's a little bit hard to tell because your body isn't straight on and is twisted to one side. I would guess probably past BSL and jut above waist? :) Maybe not too far off waist though.

My monthly (slightly late again) pictures aren't showing me much again...

Unstretched:

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=12660&d=1408648348 (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=12660&d=1408648348)

Stretched - this one looks like it's gone backwards to me again!
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=12656&d=1408648341 (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=12656&d=1408648341)

The very longest hairs reach 38 inches now. I am not going to call though, since it's literally two or three hairs. I'll wait till there is enough to classify as a clump : D

But in better news, I dared to do the sitting down tailbone test. I think I am definitely there stretched now! I think I might even be just past it with wet hair :)

http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=12658&d=1408648345

Not near there unstretched yet though. I'm pretty happy with the stretched result all the same :)

But your hair looks pretty for sure, I like the waves and I can see clear growth.

This month I am back to 43 inches, after my microtrim 2 months ago, and with a slightly more solid hemline. I took two pictures, one with my hair air dried and not brushed at all, and then one with it brushed, for comparison. I also followed Tini's example and measured the change in my length since January based on how far I've moved down my dress, and found that it matches up with my other measurements, at 3 inches growth in 7 months. This is about what I'd expect with half an inch a month plus a tiny amount off in June, so hopefully that means I'm not reaching terminal yet!
