Here in June (my faux-hawk was amazing!)

Here when I started trying to grow it out

It's getting long and borderline unmanageable now, but I think it's kind of cute. This is after a long day of work.

This is it after another long day, this time without wearing a hat:

One year of no cutting and no dyeing has just started to get hard. I'm using argan oil again and conditioner-washing, using shampoo every 1-2 weeks. I used an SLS shampoo on Wednesday and my hair feels amazing now, so I think there was some buildup. I wash every morning and blow dry it lightly - my original goal was not to use heat styling at all, but that just isn't happening now. I'm doing headbands and pins, but the back still looks funky. Or it wont curl evenly.

Your hair looks really good at every length and you've made great progress so far! Have you thought about taping your hair dryers cold shot button down? That way you can still use it but you won't get the heat damage :)

I think it looks *too* cute! :D You've got some nice waves going on in your hair, that is going to look so nice when it's long, not that it doesn't already! Happy growing, and congrats on your progress so far!

You have some curls and waves only suggestion I have curly threads and curly girl method. I'm not a curly so take my advice with caution before trying it. You might wait and see if curly and wavy hairs will help you. Nice dog by the way.

Your hair looks lovely. Looks like it's a 2c/3a. very pretty color. Maybe do some henna glosses if you get bored. Just a light reddish tone. It would look stunning with your blue eyes. May I add: your dog is adorable. :o

First, THANK YOU ALL for the support. I really need the encouragement. It's just getting so thick and heavy and hard to deal with. Even my coworkers are teasing me about it. Micayla, it's not soft at all but it is really thick. I wish it was soft! Argan oil is helping smooth it out, but it's very coarse.

I can use it on cold, but it takes forever to dry that way. :o I'd rather spend 5-10 minutes on my hair than 20. It really comes down to laziness.

It looks awesome and I agree, the longer hair really looks cute. What is your goal-length?

Not sure. At least shoulder-length, but maybe past BSL? The goal is not to touch it until August. I'm not looking much past that. And thanks.

Oh! Thanks. I will have to put that in my profile.

I love henna and did it for a few years, but I'm trying to grow it out natural this time. I have to lighten my hair and then do the henna, and it's so much upkeep.

I love it in the shot where you called it unmanageable! It's so alive and bouncy. :D

Keep up the good work. You'll get to your goal.

Your hair is gorgeous, and you're making great progress! I'm really a fan of your waves and thickness. It looks great now, including in that pic you called unmanageable, and it's going to look even more beautiful when it's long!

Also, I very much want to hug your dog. The love in the pictures of both of you is tangible.

I need to share today's photos for you all to see how scary it is. :o

Thank you so much for compliments, though. We need a "how to make the back of your hair not look stupid" thread so that I know what to do for work. They're pretty chill about it, and I can fix the front, but the back is just.. bad.
