I got every single bit of nasties cut-off - 5 inches - its shorter than I would like, but it had to be done so I'm happy about it. My stylist was worried when she showed me the length, but I told her it was okay, I gave the go ahead to cut that much and it needed to be done, since I've only been cutting small amounts at a time and never getting all of it. Now its all gone yeeaaa

Good for you! It can be hard to part with length, but it's really satisfying to have completely healthy and undamaged hair. I did a big chop to get rid of damage years ago and I don't regret it at all.

I really need to do the same. Just reached solid BSL but my ends can look ok but I know they are dry and damaged from my mad bleaching a couple of years ago. To remedy this damage, at the time I had a bad cut with lots of layers. My face ones length was the base of my ears! Talk about hair curtains! They are now APL and in ggreat condition so I know if I were to get a cut to APL like you, it would get rid of my layers totally and pretty much all the damage!
I am too chicken to do it though. Can u post before and after pics to try and persuade me?

Good luck and happy healthy growing from now on!

I don't have any length pics, but here's some bun pics where you can see the damaged ends in the bun

You can see on the right, the darker part is the damaged ends

And now my bun is smooth all the way around

Well done for getting the courage to go for it! I'm sure you won't regret it and it'll grow out super fast anyway :)
