I am going to my work xmas party this saturday, and always being one to buck the trend, I'm wearing a My Little Pony dress! :D I'd like my hair to match the 'girly-ness' of my dress, but I'd also like it to look polished andlike I have actually taken time over it. I do have some cute MLP snappy clips I can put in it as well, so anything incorporating those would be fun ;)

Any ideas?

Tie in some ribbons in a classic pony? Haha

Ohh, or add some mini braids throughout a pony. I think that would look nice. I was going to add that to my first post but I'm not sure how to edit just yet.

I did a style the other day with two knotted buns low and to the sides of my head with the ends poking out so it looked like cute little pigtails. I secured them with short sticks and put a flower in one. The ends were curled from the sock bun I'd been wearing all day. Comfy and cute. It got a lot of compliments too with people thinking I spent ages on it. Took 2 minutes. I did the knot buns with a partial pull through so that the ends stuck out the bottom rather than the middle. I keep meaning to do a video tutorial for it now I've got a YouTube account but I can't find my camera and I have no editing knowledge at all.

I'd go with two buns on the top of your head. Accessorize with bows or any girly clips.

Are you dressing as a particular pony?

This is what I was going to suggest. I think ribbons and mini braids are also great suggestions. Combine all of them for something over the top?

Most of my nieces' ponys have glittery hair. Maybe this hair tinsel thingy (http://www.princesspiggies.blogspot.com/2011/12/fridays-film-hair-tinsel.html)?

Have fun, post pictures!

Not saying it is a bad idea, but how formal is your office? Wearing something a little "different" could end being a negative for you if your office is more conservative. Just a thought......

There's a style that gives you a sort of 'mane'. You comb your hair upwards as if you were creating a mohawk, and secure it with little elastics. You end up with a row of mini ponytails running down the centre of your head from forehead to nape.

LMAO! Yes, as Merlin knows, my work (its a school ;) ) are, well...... they like to think they're posh, but they really, really aren't! ;) I've been here 10 years, they know me well.

This is my dress http://www.hottopic.co.uk/hottopic/My+Little+Pony+X+Iron+Fist+Dress-10033105.jsp so not a particular pony, rather, a lot of them! ;) I'm teaming it with some yellow calf length leggings (the type with lace around the hem, so they don't look like workout gear), and some killer wedge heels. It is supposed to be a formal dinner, but I've gone a bit more 'me' several times, and nothing is ever said, this dress was expensive (not availiable here, so I had to import it), so I'm wearing it! ;)

I really like the idea of girly buns, teamed with some braids too, I'll see if I can braid in some tinsel of ribbons, paranda style too :) Thank you all!

lol... that explains it :) I was imagining a my little pony dress and matching hair in a sea of little-black-dress wearing conservative wall-street types, and as you can imagine it might not go over well in that situation lol.

It was a particularly appropriate updo this time, IMO! :D

Put your hair in pigtails (really high up like where your "ears" would be, braid and do a small bun. Let the rest flow unbraided up from the center of the bun...

I've made myself some brightly coloured clip in extensions, so I'll have some colour in there, and I'm about to go shopping for rainbow eye shadows too! Ooh this'll be fun!
