Welcome, one and all, to December's style of the month! I'm sure you're all ready for your style of the month, so I won't keep you waiting:

Bee Butt Bun!

I can only imagine how tall they might be if we get some longer-haired participants. Will people do just one? More? A bee-butt-hawk? (Is that a proper term? It should be!) A unicorn horn? It's all up to you! Have fun!

Anxious to see these, as I can't seem to get them to work and I really like them!

My hair compacts so much these are a little ridiculous at my length.

I could certainly do a unicorn horn with that!

Actually, I did butterfly antennae for a Halloween costume last year.

I kind of like them when they are made to lay down.
Here they were both made off center.

Here they were made on opposite sides and reach toward each other.

That looks amazing!!!

Unfortunately my bee butt bun looks just like my cinnabun...with my thickness and length I can only get one wrap around and it kind of misses the point for me. :(

Thank you! Kaelee, I wonder what it would look like to do three or four of them in a line? You might get some "height" that way.

I LOVE this look!

I cannot seem to do a proper bee butt bun. I need to do some more research on how to properly do them, I guess.

My hair has now gotten to the point where I make bee-butt buns when I mean to do cinnamin buns. My once favorite topknots now flop over and get really heavy, so I guess I do this style more then intended. :p

I was hoping someone with extraordinary hair would demonstrate. Thanks!

Wow, LadyLongLocks, that looks amazing. A gorgeous color too. Is it heavy?

Gorgeouuus!!

How do you get it to stay with such long hair?

I sadly don't think my hair can quite manage a bee butt bun. Maybe next year. :)

Wow, Gumball, this is somewhere at the point of hypnotizing! I see I have gravely estimated bee butts up to this point.

Thank you very much!

I definitely agree that at a certain point it starts looking much more striking than you think it should given how it's actually done. I think a lot of it, like I saw with neko_kawaii's pictures, have to do when it's not worn sticking straight out from the head like a horn. There must be a point where it has enough coils to stop looking like, "Oh, nice bun!" and more like, "Wow. That's... Sticking really far off of your head and that's all I notice!" When it's flat or hanging down it starts looking much softer and in some cases elegant.

Here's my attempt, after seeing this inspiration. Not quite as cute as neko_kawaii's...

I don't mean to be rude to the others who have posted in this thread, but this is my favorite. If I am out of line, please let me know. I am growing my hair out and trying to take better care of it than ever before and this is just so beautiful to me. And I do love LadyLongLocks's Bee Butt Bun, I just wonder if having floor length hair would cause me neck pain, especially wearing it in this style. This is the first thread I have looked at in the Hairstyle of the Month area and am so inspired to keep growing and definitely learn how to do awesome hair styles other than the boring pony tail. :)
