It seems there is always one bun that works really well most of the time. For me this changes periodically. Well the last couple weeks it has switched for me. It used to be the lwb but now its a nautilus. Todays was the best ever so now its my avatar. What is your current bun crush? Bonus points for pics.:p

Right now for me it's probably the orchid bun. However. There is consistently this little ponchy puffy bit at about 8:00 on the bun that I like to try to pin down with a second stick, so if I can get that done, I'm really happy with it. Let me look for some pix because I'm all about the bonus points.

ETA: added pix for points. Can I cash those in for more hairtoys at some later date?

My go-to bun is a knot bun. My hair is thin and fine so finding a bun that can last all day can be a challenge. My hair is not fond of a nautilus =.= They like to fall out......

Both of those are fancied up by wrapping a braid around the half up bun. I don't usually wear it that way just the only pics I had uploaded

I'm loving the disc bun. At layered BSL it's the only one stick bun I can do.

I'm all about the split bun. This is my only photo of it and it looks lousy but I think it's pretty usually and SO simple. I think it looks like it's harder than it is and it's super comfy - no pulling little hairs.

Right now it is STILL the LWB. Though, I've just found a favorite fork that I had lost over a year ago, and it only really works in cinnabun or something that isn't center held...

My crush bun is an English braid bun or the basic bun. I wear my snood over my basic bun.

Does the disc bun not work well on hair with a blunt hemline? I just tried it once for the first time and it came out sad. Usually I like the lazy wrap bun and the infinity bun.

Ok...second attempt was better but I never have great luck tucking in my ends and I don't like to use pins. Usually I just plan my bun to have an intentional tail...looks great with my infinity. Guess I will keep tryin on the disc bun since this thread is so highly recommending it. Good way to use my snow day.

Pha bun!

Sorry, pic overload.... But yeah, I really love this bun. It's also one you don't see people wear very often even on LHC.

Pha bun!

I am crushing on the Pha Bun too! But I'm at the point where I'm just admiring it on others (like on the LHN thread where they posted their own photos of it). I have tried it several times and can't get it right. I look forward to being able to do that one soon.

My hair is BCL so I really wish I could figure out buns. Any bun would be helpful.

The dutch pinless, it's one of my favorites! Especially when I put my paranda in it and it looks as nice and thick as habioku's.

I LOVE your hairstick in this picture!!! Lovely healthy looking hair as well. :)
As to the question of this thread, I'd say for me right now it is "maiden braids" also known as "Heidi braids" or a "faux crown braid". Whatever you call it, it is the updo wherein you braid your hair in two braids then cross them over your head and pin them there. I really like it right now because my hair just got long enough recently for them to really start looking nice and not thinning towards the ends. :D I'll post pictures when I'm home and therefore have access to a camera.

Lately it's been a super boring cinnabun 99% of the time, but this thread has inspired me to mix it up, so I think I'm going to start doing this one until I've learned it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08Sqx1uuCdE

ETA: Yaay, it took a couple tries but I think I really like this one. :D

I just learned how to do the Pha bun yesterday, and I've been practising the disc bun for about a week now, after only ever doing cinnabuns for most of my life! I had a huge crush on the braided Chinese bun a few weeks ago, but then I got a few inches trimmed off due to damage, and now my hair isn't *quite* long enough for it to work right.

I am liking a simple low braided bun. My hair is so thick that it looks like some kind of fancy, complicated woven thing, probably because I have to pull it apart to create bigger loops to put the stick through.

I recently fell out of love with the lazy wrap bun - I just can't get it to hold all day any more. My new go to is the disc bun, but my bun crush is the infinity bun - at 2 inches past BSL my hair is just barely long enough to do it, but when I get it to stay I love it - it's so comfy and wide it feels like my hair is giving the back of my head a hug. Sorry no photos today.

I've been practicing many buns lately and some of them didn't work for the lenght, the thickness or the deep V in my hair. I don't have forks, but I tried the pha bun with a stick in my thick hair and it work, but didn't look as pretty as other people's bun. If I could make it work, the pha bun will be my favourite because it's very easy and looks beautiful, but my vote then goes to the orchid bun, very pretty and easy as well.

Not my favorite style, but a cinnabun is my go to. Easy, fast, and keeps all of my hair up when I need it out if the way.

Longtime love affair: disc bun (traditional and Kaelee's innovation :p)
Crush: pha bun (I just got my first hair forks and I'm doing this one a lot to really learn it)

I'm sad that the LWB has never worked on me. I keep trying it and my hair spits out my hair kit pretty swiftly. I love the look on others, but my hair says no.

I'm loving the disc bun and the LWB. My other go to is a nautilus of some form. Right now I have a braided LWB with the stick stuck straight through the loops instead of in and out. When I do the disc bun, both horizontal and vertical, I have to wrap it around my fingers twice, otherwise I end up pulling it too tight. But, doing that does thicken up my bun well. I have hip length, fine hair, and it turns into small buns. I'm working on the orchid. I think it's pretty, but I have such a hard time with anything that twists to start like that. I can't get the twist going well, which is why I don't wear rope braids, and then it gets so tight that I get an instant facelift.

I am currently crushing on the Disc Bun which has replaced the LWB. But I am also loving pinless braided buns - they take more time, but I like them and am getting better at them.
