How often should you hot oil your hair?

When I had the vo5 hot oil treatments. I haven't used them in years I think you use them weekly according to the box. You wet your hair warm the hair oil tube in a cup of hot water and apply to damp wet hair. I think it foamed a little you let it sit on your hair for a few minutes then rinse out. I think this is correct.

I aim to do it once/month, but it ends up more like every other/third month :p

I think you can do hot oil treatments as often as you like, but I wouldn't do them more than once a week personally. I think if you have coarse hair, you can get away with doing them more often than fine haired can. Why not try it once a month and see how your hair responds.

I use hot oil mainly for my scalp, but I just do it whenever my hair and scalp feels dry. I don't buy hot oil treatments, I heat up 1/2 a cup of olive oil is a glass cup and pour it over my head, rub it in and let it sit for 30 minutes with a shower cap over it. You have to rinse really well, but it works great! :magic:
