I've been reading up on jojoba oil and have a question. I keep getting conflicting information. Does jojoba oil penetrate into the shaft of the hair?

I don't think so as it's not strictly an oil but a wax ester, it supposed to mimic our own sebum pretty well :)

I believe it doesn't.

I can't recall seeing any studies done on it, Aingeal.

Don't know, but if I apply it heavy-handedly, it makes my hair look greasy. If I half it with almond oil and apply sparingly, it's great for shine.

Hmmmm ok. I was thinking of using some on my ends. I figure it will work to protect them from the weather a bit.

Don't know, but it does nothing for my hair. I prefer olive oil. Coconut oil works but I get protein overload from that. Also argan oil worked (but was more expensive than EVOO) and I couldn't cook with it lol

Jojoba does not penetrate the hair shaft, it just acts as a barrier to protect the hair. I find it very useful in cold/dry weather since it does shield the hair shaft from further damage.
