July 18 I shaved my head to the scalp. Since then i have been massaging my head almost daily. I use coconut oil and castor oil. Sometimes I notice little white pods. (Not lice had my mom check...twice cuz I'm a worry wart haha) Anyhow I will say i think my hair is coming back thicker im wondering if my follicles had been clogged. Causing my hair to be slightly thinner. I was wondering if anyone else knows what I'm talking about. If it sounds gross sorry.

I know that coconut oil is highly comedogenic, meaning very likely to clog pores. It has so many benefits for the hair, skin, and internal body but it can cause clogged pores and acne for many people who apply it to certain areas. Unless you scalp is very dry, I would try using a thinner oil or skip oil all together for your scalp massages and see if it improves.

I am not sure I understand your description but could it be looking thicker cause it is all one length and freshly trimmed?

Could the pods be skin cells? Dandruff and fungus can clog up your scalp in a way.

My skin is very emphatic about not playing nicely with coconut oil - I get blackheads and whiteheads very quickly. I definitely don't recommend using it on the skin. For the skin, I do much better with safflower oil, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, or grapeseed oil. In a pinch, I'll use olive, but I don't care for smelling like olive oil, and the others I mentioned all have much milder odors - some really have no smell beyond a faint, vague sense of 'oily'.
