Now that my hair is getting quite a bit longer, my shed hairs are starting to drive me nuts! I'm shedding a normal amount (less than 100 hairs a day), and so I'm not worried about thickness or bald spots.

My shed hairs hang out in my length and they're a hassle to get out it seems. I try to limit my hair fussing, and I don't wash daily, but when I DO wash or brush/comb, or even fingercomb, I pull out so many shed hairs its annoying! It's compounded by the fact these little shed hairs are so flippin' long! Its especially irksome that if I don't remove these hairs, they'll tangle and make the still-attached hairs pull when I put my hair up.

Maybe I don't fuss with my hair enough to remove these hairs? How do you guys deal with removing these buggers? Or is this something I'll just have to come to terms with? I've even briefly considered cutting, since when my hair was shorter the hair was less annoying when shed (due to lack of length, not less shedding).

I think it's partly just having to deal with it. For me I rebraid my hair every night before I go to sleep so it doesn't get irritatingly matted while I toss and turn. When my hair is loose and I've just fingercombed/combed and detangled it I run my hand along it and grip the length really lightly. There isn't enough force to really pull my hair in any way, so I only tend to get the shed hairs out since they require much less force to be removed. After that I just roll the hair bunch into a hairball and toss it out. Works pretty good for me. I hope you can find something that works for you!

I brush standing next to the bin, and throw my shed hairs out immediately (it used to be that I could go a week without cleaning my hairbrush, alas no more). Then I put my hair up, so I really don't have any advice on what to do with the sheds when wearing your hair down.
But when take my hair down to braid it for the night, and quickly fingercomb through, I too have a handful of sheds again
