I saw this on my feed and thought it was super neat! What kind of braid is that? I so want to try it on my daughter's hair!

Is that braiding style a perimeter braid?

I have no idea, that's why I posted it I need to find out. It seems it could be just a dutch braid taking only from one side. I don't know if there is a name for that... This hair style totally made my day!

lelissocool, this is a really pretty braiding style/really pretty updo. I can see why you would want to try this hairstyle on your daughter's hair.

That is very cool. In my mind that is the kind of hairstyle a fairy queen should have, with a floral headband or something.

As for the braid, I think it is a variation of a lace braid. Based on those pictures I'd say the look is achieved by doing the same kind of braiding as is done in this tutorial for a 3d heart braid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJdljXI9gXc

Ok guys I completely failed my attempt, there is something missing.... sigh I wish there was a tutorial, my braids look deformed and I run out of hair. And my daughter was eating a giant bag of gummy bears so she was sitting still and all.

It looks like four French lace braids coming out of a ponytail with clever placement and tucking of the braids and tassels. It's all about how the sections of the laced part are added to the braid that create the shape of each wing. It then looks like the braid lengths (where sections are no longer added) are tucked under and most seem to be wrapped around the hair tie at the base of the ponytail to keep them from view and preserve the aesthetic. The braids' tassels, likely with a little product, become the antennae.

Well it's not hard, but my first attempt failed :lol: I'll attempt it tomorrow. It wasn't horrible and it does kind of look like a butterfly, my kid likes it and is running around happy with it.

Your daughter has pretty hair I love the color and the hair style looks fabulous on her. The daisy is a cute touch. She's lucky to have you working with her on her hair journey.

Thank you! She was a champ, my braiding skills on the other hand took a HUGE beating! I need to pull tighter next time, this time I did it too loose. BTW, other than the daisy there is no hair pins or anything and so far it's holding for now an hour and a half. Not bad on a hyperactive toddler!

I didn't tease though, I think it would work better with a bit of teasing.

That's amazing how well it holds. I know nothing about little girls hair but I can picture my brothers activity level and that's great hold. The daisy is cute by the way. I bet the best part was the bonding process you to had. That will stay with her a life time. Enjoy these moments they don't last forever.

My add blocker must be preventing me from seeing the original picture you posted, but I love this style. It looks fantastic in your daughter's hair. You have some serious braiding skills. :)

Sorry for not clarifying, I totally used the tutorial PrincessIdril sent, I'm just not as talented at maneuvering the tension! And I saved it too for Valentine's day :p. It was indeed lace braiding. It's actually fairly easy and I think it can be easily modified for longer hair! I might try on my hair and see what happens :lol:.
