In sweden this substance is called kisel /kiselgur.
In english lexikon i found out that its called silicone.
Not silicone that is used in breastimplants.
Anyway this substance is told to give hair growht strenght.
This substance is also used to horses with bad hoofs and mane and tail and coat.,,and bone structure strenght..and skin problem solution for better skin.
Has anyone here at this forum tested this mineral.?
Today i bought this at a horse store.Pure silicone.
Its like powder.
Horses are wery sensitive för allergic reaktions and bad stomic,,so this is not poison for the body.
All my friends that use this for their horses say that this product is very good in results.
In swedish drugstores this mineral is in some pills, but not pure .
This powder- like mineral, in horse stores are 100 pure silicone/kiselgur,,,,and much cheaper.
Im from sweden so i may write a bit wrong .
Best regards Snow.:)

Silicon, not silicone :)

ETA: and kiselgur would be mainly silica, SiO2

I'm wondering if your translation is a little off, and the substance is not silicone, but silica. As I understand it (knowing little about supplements), silica is taken as pills and said to promote hair growth.

Maybe someone who knows more about it will chime in.

silica is indeed supposed to be very beneficial to hair, skin and nails.

haven't used it myself, so I can't comment on the actual effects.

but yes, I think OP is talking about silica.

Kieselguhr is diatom shells. It's 86% silica, according to Wikipedia. It may also kill intestinal worms in the horses, as well as provide nutritional silicon.
