Last year I stopped dyeing my hair with permanent dye and starting using colour deposit rinses. I had been using a dark blonde and wanted something a bit warmer so I used a Hazelnut colour. The problem is it didn't take on my previously rinsed hair and only took on the 2 inches of virgin hair I had. I tried putting a light brown over it to tone it down but it's gone a horrible orange/pink colour. Now my natural ashy brown roots are showing and I have a stripe of orange/pink and dark blonde. The Hazelnut dye has been washed more than 10 times but it just won't shift. Does anyone know what will fade colour deposit colour, I know it has clear Henna in it, could that be making it colour fast?

There is no such thing as clear henna, what did you actually use was it cassia? What do you mean by colour deposit rinse, a peroxide-free semi permanent or something else? Have you considered running strand tests with shed plughole hair instead of experimenting on your head?
