I looked to find a thread on how to use tea tree oil, does anyone know of one or cold you tell me how to use it. Thanks

As far as I'm aware, with essential oils there are several options. You could blend a few drops into your regular oil (coconut, olive - whatever it is you use). You could mix a few drops into an aerosol bottle of water (or water with a tiny bit of regular conditioner) and use it as a spray. I'm sure others will suggest more options.

I can give you the basics...
It's an essential oil. As such, you're not going to be using it to oil your hair like you might coconut oil. Instead, you need to dilute it in a normal "carrier" oil, and you'll probably be applying it to skin in hopes of getting what benefits it provides. Typically it's used as an antiseptic. People apply it (diluted) to skin and scalps in hopes that it'll cure whatever problems they have going on, with varying degrees of success.

Thanks. That is what I wanted to know. If it was an all over oil or had to be diluted. Winter coming on and my scalp gets itchy. Hoping it will help.

Just keep an eye out - tea tree is one of the essential oils that it is not uncommon to find irritating. Some people love it, but some people (myself included) react to it.

I mix some tea tree oil in with my dandruff shampoo and leave it in for 5 minutes before washing it out. It tingles which I love! Just be careful if you have cats. I've heard it's poisonous to them.

I am not sure if this is pure tea tree oil or not. It was only like 3 dollars. I got it at walmart. Next time I use olive oil I will mix a few drops in and see what happens

What is the diagnosis for your itchy scalp? Tea tree oil is an anti fungal so useful for mild seborrhoeic dermatitis, it can be an irritant in other skin complaints. If you have SD do not use olive oil on your scalp, oleic acid is a known irritant in that disorder.

I usually put 1 or 2 drops into a new bottle of shampoo, mainly to use on DD's hair. I read that lice don't like tea-tree, so it's my attempt to prevent to dreaded scourge of lice from visiting my house. It hasn't caused any adverse reactions, so I see no reason not to add it to the shampoo she likes.
