View Full Version : Oh yeah, I cut my hair

So, I cut my hair on a whim. Not a whim, really, because I was thinking of it for a long time. I just wanted less pull because my post=partum shed has been bad. I also figured cut my hair to shoulder one length and start all over. That way my layers won't drive me nuts. I've been happy. :) I'm thinking of keeping my bangs though. I just really needed to start over new. I will post pictures soon, because my toddler needs me right now! :)

About waist length this summer:

I made the facebook album public so hopefully it'll work! :)

I should add that I cut my own hair and in both pictures my hair was not styled so it's naturally wavy. :)

Hopefully that will work?

You did that yourself? Outstanding!

My hair at shoulder length was a solid pyramid without layering; really terrible. But yours looks good.

Looks good Mama. Oh and BTW you look a lot like an actress I like. Beautiful!
Good luck with your restarted hair journey!

I miss the fun styles I used to do. I love french braids and I can't do that very well just yet. But I've been doing half french braids and being more creative with short hair since I've been on this site. So I'm not too bored with it just yet. I'm not looking forward to the awkward stage of APL, though. :(

Your hair looked amazing that long! Regrow at your own pace, no rush. It looks gorgeous & so cute with the waves!

Your hair looks great!!! I hear you about the post-partum hair loss. I am about 5 months post-partum, and the massive shedding was (and still is) driving me crazy. Right before I joined LHC, I cut my BSL hair to the APL you see in my siggie.

Sometimes starting over really does seem to be the best option. :)

I'm planning on growing out again, at least to BSL. Hoping for one length, aside from bangs, so I can have nice, braided updo's. I LOVE braiding, but my layers drove me bonkers!!

*I may or may not have a secret desire to have my hair be darker, but that's another thread topic* :D

Wow, I think you look beautiful! Your hair looks gorgeous, healthy, and the cut looks great on you! Amazing job on cutting your own hair :)

Thank you. And thanks everyone for the compliments. You are all very sweet. I had a bad hair day today and just thought of all your compliments, lol. Hopefully better tomorrow!

If I tried to cut my own hair (apart from snipping at the very ends) I bet it would turn out totally uneven, but yours looks great. I'll be doing a similar thing at some point, though I won't risk doing it myself. I'll probably wait until my henna's grown out to shoulder length...
If you do decide you want your hair darker, do try semi permanent vegetable dyes that will wash out (I've been using Adore dyes to minimize the contrast between my natural color and the henna) because your color's so pretty.

Pretty....Very pretty! I cut my own hair too but you probably do a better job at it though than I do. ;)

Isn't the post-partum shed horrendous? After my son was born, I shed heaps of hair all over the place so it looked like we need a road-kill pick-up every few days. Lasted for four months. My hair got super-thick and lush while pregnant though so it was no wonder, I shed like a collie in the summer heat.
