I'm new and I have no idea how to classify my hair. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I have so many questions. I have no idea how to take care of my hair naturally. What is your hair routine? Which oils are the best? How do I use it? LoL. I'm looking forward to all the great advice from you long-haired beauties :flower:

I don't know any other way to upload a picture except uploading it to the photobucket and then copying the img link and pasting it in your message. HTH Also, welcome to the LHC!

Thank you so much. It worked! It's huge though. I'm not good with technology. LoL

To properly hair type your hair (assuming that's what you mean by classify), you need to wash as normal and then air dry without leave-ins, without finger combing, without brushing - preferably without touching at all.

Yes, this, absolutely. I'm still pretty sure you'll end up in the 2 range:D

You're welcome:) You can also resize it in photobucket. I vote for 2a type.

If you can, try to not use conditioner after shampooing and until your hair is dry and you take the pic. Then you can jump back into the shower and condition your hair as normal.

Yes. This is my uncombed, freshly washed, air dried hair. I just squeezed some of the water out while still in the shower

Okay, I just wanted to make sure, because it can really make the difference with wavy and curly hair. :)
That picture looks like 2b or so to me.

Looks like 2a/2b to me, though maybe even 2c? Your hair starts to actually curl towards the ends, and on the right side looks like you have some loose curls. =) Welcome to LHC!

Hi,

I'm also new and am having trouble classifying. Can anyone post a link that explains the different types?

Thanks in advance

Here's a link to the text (http://archive.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=8954), I'm not sure if there's a photo gallery somewhere. :)

Looks like 2a to me with potential for 2b, more important are your hair properties - porosity, elasticity, coarseness: check out Live Curly Live Free for that.

I'd call that 2b. Sooner or later we'll get pics up again for comparison, so you won't be stuck with our collective mental images of what each type looks like. :D

I agree with 2a, possibly 2b with different routine.

I use sulphate free shampoo, organic conditioner and coconut oil as pre-wash (left for at least 2 hours). I can't say that coconut oil is the best for everybody's hair, but it really works for me.
