My Birthday/Manic Panic! WARNING: Big Pictures (Photobucket)

Hi everybody! Since school has started, I haven't really been on the forum as frequently! That said, today's my birthday (yay, I'm 16!)- and as a reward for being nice to my hair, last night I wanted to color my hair. I used Manic Panic's "Infra Red" over unbleached dark brown hair with natural reddish undertones. Infra Red looks like a cool, blood red. I'm actually really happy with it! This is what Manic Panic calls a "bold highlight"? I say it's much more than a highlight! I'm actually really liking it, and definitely plan on keeping this color! I had originally wanted to try henna, but this was a more convenient alternative! I'll post about my procedure if anyone is interested! Also: apologies about the formatting. Thank you! I've only had my hair red before (...like two years ago, maybe?) with a Revlon dye that was meant for darker hair, and I barely saw a difference.
I was surprised this worked, honestly!

I tried looking for references, but most people who had the same color as me used lightening agents beforehand!
So I ended up looking for pictures of women of color using it on natural hair, since I knew that meant it would be dark to begin with!
My results are different, of course, but I assume it's because of the difference in hair type and texture.

I used to dye my hair similar shades with permanent dyes in high school (my hair is about the same color as yours), but was always disappointed in how dark they'd come out - if only I had known then to use manic panic's infra-red! :silly:

I love the color! I had been wanting to try to give my henna red a little boost with manic panic, but wasn't sure how well it would turn out since my hair is dark. Maybe now I'll give it a shot. :)
