So after many months of debating I finally decided to get my hair cut. I asked the hair stylist how many inches she thought would be appropriate and she said 5. Now my hair is so much healthier. I have less knots and now I am ready to grow it longer. I think it needed to be healthy first before I continue to grow it. What do you think?

Thank you everyone! I thought I lost a lot of length but I think I was wrong, the ends were very stringy.

It looks great! I just cut 4 inches off my hair too and got rid of the blue dip-dye ends. The bleach damage over previously dyed hair was becoming too much. It feels so short! But on the plus side, no tangles, and my hair is all virgin now!

It looks fantastic. I usually find that loosing bad length makes my hair look *longer*. Your hair actually does look longer now that it is shorter and healthier. Gorgeous!

Your hair looks just fantastic! And it doesn't even look like you lost any length at all! It sounds like you found a good hair dresser that doesn't want to chop off all of your hair, so hang on to that one.

I have thin, straggly ends too and this is just more temptation for me to cut them off. If I knew for sure that I wouldn't miss the length, I'd cut them off in a heartbeat to have a great hemline like yours.

That looks stunning, well worth the trauma. My ends are crispy so I need to do the same thing. I've also spent many hours doing a search and remove on split ends so the ends are a bit straggly, although I do trim it every so often.

You made the right decision. It looks like a whole new head of hair to me. So much fuller, thicker and luxurious looking and no shorter looking. It's amazing;). Good job!

Yes I found an amazing hair dresser. She understands that I love long hair!

Wow thank you so much everyone. When I was sitting in the chair after she cut my hair I felt it in the back and almost cried. I thought I was losing so much length. I thought my Long Hair Community friends would say I shouldn't have cut my hair but I am getting such positive feedback. I am glad that I did it. It has never been more healthy before and my hair dresser did exactly what I wanted with the highlights. She only highlights the new growth and she promotes healthy hair. I asked her if she could make me more blonde and she said it might compromise the health of my hair. So she said she wouldn't do it, I said thank you because I don't want to damage my hair. She is so great. Thank you everyone!!
