Flip all the hair forward,
pontail with a soft smallish scrunchie from nape to back of ears to crown.
leaving hair from ears forward loose.
With all hair still hanging forward
twist it all into a bun at the crown
then make a hole under the scunchie next to the scalp
and shove that bun right in there like a bumpit.
voila

Yes, exactly -
push the bun through the hole from the crown forward.
the scrunchie is hidden and holds it in there.
