Hi there :)

Sorry if this has been done before but does anyone know of affordable sulphate free shampoos/conditioners and where I can buy them? Most of the ones I found online are pretty expensive. :(

I've just tried Faith in nature conditioner, they have sulfate free shampoo as well. The conditioner is great and I am thinking of trying the shampoo next.
Also the yes to cucumbers I really like (tk maxx) L'oreal eversleek is good as well :)

Lavera is sulphate free and works just fine for me now. Aroud 7€ I think, dunno if that is expensive for you, but where I am from its the cheapest sulphate-free and cone-free stuff you can get.

Sulfate free is debatable since it's sodium coco sulfate based. It's very mild though. I absolutely adore my lavera basis shampoo for normal hair. It's still quite pricy for a small quantity (250ml).

Well, here's one I've been meaning to try out. It gets cheaper the more you buy, so it pays to buy the one litre bottle. It should last quite a while! Plus you can add oil etc to it yourself.

I use Giovanni Smooth as silk shampoo. The newest formulation is sulfate and humectant free. Cocamidopropyl Betaine is the main cleanser and should remove most cones, if you use cones. You can find it at Walmart, Target, or Ulta.

OP is from the UK, we don't have those stores here. It can be bought from the UK Amazon but it's not too cheap... unless you get the travel size.

Heavy Raindrops, what's your price range?

I use the Boots Naked range (https://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/EndecaSearchListerView?storeId=10052&langId=-1&catalogId=10551&stReq=1&searchTerm=Naked&newDepSearch=&x=37&y=0#container). It's £4.19 for a 250 ml shampoo bottle which usually lasts me for almost a year.

I was hoping to get a 400 ml bottle of shampoo or conditioner for around £3/£4 but I think I am asking for too much here. :o

I'm sensitive to tons of ingredients in conventional shampoo. What's worked for me is the shampoo and conditioner by Natures Gate. I use the henna kind. I think I bought them each for around six bucks at my natural foods store.

You can order it from iHerb.com They have great prices there and the shipping costs are cheap! (I live in Belgium by the way) The giovanni Smooth as silk shampoo is my absolute favourite

You probably are for shampoo: sulphate surfactants are cheap, foam well and commercial products sell in large quantities. Gentler surfactants like the glucosides and betaines are more expensive ingredients, mostly the market is relatively small although it's changing with the L'Oreal Ever- series. I have the Naturallythinking base shampoo and it's very foamy/ cleansing so you don't need much, I buy five litres at a time and also use it as shower gel.

All conditioners are sulphate surfactant free anyway, if you want silicone free then that price absolutely is do-able.

Pop into a Superdrug and check the ingredients on their Naturals range to see if they comply with what you're looking for. Often on sale, but even at full price they're only 99p for 250ml. (I only have their conditioners so can't vouch that the shampoo is SLS-free - but I'd be willing to bet it is.)

SLS is not the only sulphate surfactant, it's just the one that is most well known. I don't think the shampoo can be sulphate and silicone free, it's not on the British Curlies high street list whereas the conditioners are.

The Loreal Eversleek is around £6, but its so thick I end up using a fraction of the quantity per wash than I do any other type of shampoo I've used, so it lasts for absolutely ages!

I'm considering buying the Loreal ones, they're on sale in Boots, 2 for £9. :)
