A week ago or so my hair was feeling pretty dry from the last hair color job I did, so I decided to do an olive oil treatment. I got some improvement afterwards but not enough to make me happy. So I got some coconut oil the other day (for the first time ever!) and I tell you what! I like it way better then olive oil! Here is a couple of pics to show, just keep in mind my hair is lighter now because of the olive oil and some sun light. But I would say there was definately a change and for the better!

Your hair looks beautiful! I use sweet almond oil as well, but I've run out of coconut oil and need to pick up some more.

I'm enjoying the soft silkyness, I haven't even put a lot of coconut oil in my hair yet (for a treatment) just put a little on my ends for moisture. Can't wait to try a treatment!

I have also switched from EVOO to Coconut Oil just a couple of weeks ago and couldn't be happier! It didn't work for me the first time I tried it but probably because I was experimenting with a new conditioner at the same time, which I didn't like, but all the good feedbacks I have been reading in this forum made me want to give it another try.
I love coconut oil so much that I oil my bun before going to work on a wash day... I hope no one will notice :blushing:

Coconut oil is the best! I used to use olive oil, but we were out one day and I used coconut oil ... I haven't gone back! I haven't done a hair mask in a while, but I usually mix it with honey and an egg.

Coconut oil is my favorite! I use it mainly to the sea, I put in the lenght after the bath (and a quick shower with sweet water) and when they are dry become extremely shiny and soft!
I find this article on-line, is very interesting and basically says that coconut oil is the best for your hair!

Nice shiny hair! :) Personally I love EVOO, I don't think any other beats it in terms of treatment oils :p Coconut is pretty good though!

Coconut works best in small amounts on a regular basis. I see a lot of people overdoing coconut oil and then swearing off completely. More isnt always better.

EVOO is fantastic! but i'm italian and when I smell it I immidiately think to a bruschetta ... and I get hungry :) if I take it on my head for 1 hour I can eat 1 kg of bread!

Coconut oil isn't suited to everyone, but for some they just need to clarify once a month or so to relieve the "crispyness" that some refer to, while still getting the benefits of maintaining moisture levels. It can seal the hair so well that it keeps the moisture out, so one needs to get the right balance to ensure moisture is in the hair, which is then retained by the oil(s)

Your hair looks great both before and after the treatment!
You could try jojoba oil or avocado oil as well. I personally love a blend of sweet almond oil and castor oil. It gives me soft hair. I herbalise my sweet almond oil(the recipe is on one of my threads).

I bought a bottle of camellia oil yesterday.

My hair absorbs it very well, and it's never greasy, but it seems like it takes several hours for it to absorb. Is this normal?

For instance, when I first put it on, it gets very crunchy, especially on my dye damaged layers.

But about 5-6 hours later, it gets much softer and smoother.

I'm confused...
