I really need to spend more time with my ficcare. The little time I have spent experimenting with it has taught me it holds a nautilus comfortably. Here is the only picture I have right after I got it in a cinnamon bun.

Hoping to learn some new tricks!

I have never gotten my ficcare to hold my hair. I was so excited to get it, but it never worked. It just bends out of shape when I try to use the bottom as a hairfork (as instructed), and isn't long enough to hold anything anyway. Is there a special trick to it? I've seen other super long hairs do it successfully, but I can't figure it out myself. :( Any ideas?

I'm not sure I count as a super longhair (probably not, I'm only almost at knee) but even so I find that my large ficcare won't hold anything that isn't essentially center-held. There's just too much volume otherwise and it tends to spit things out or come squirting out of the bun.

I've never been able to get a ficcare to hold comfortably. No matter where I place it, something is always pulling.
My hair isn't thick and only a little past BSL, so you would think I'd be able to use it in numerous ways.

well, ficcare only don't work very well.
most of the time i use one or two spinpins or amishpins also to hold the bun in place.
only nautilus and sometimes cinnamonbun works only with ficcare..

HA!
Not a super long-hair at knee. I'm at pixie length, also known as BSL.

Even though i'm on LHC sabbatical, I had to try to post to this thread since I have a big love for Ficcares! Here are some of my favorite ways to wear them (mind you some of these are old recycled pics!LOL):

It is supposed to bend out of shape when you use it, i.e. it's not supposed to completely close over your hair. I could wear a large perfectly well, centred and off-centre, at my longest, which was barely fingertip. However, I remember Lady Godiva using a Ficcare to hold her floor length hair (and she's something like 5'9"-5'10" tall) in a log roll... ETA: That may have been on the old boards, now archived.

I have the best luck with center held buns. I usually do a lazy wrap. If I clip it on the outside of the bun it always seems to pull. If I clip it around the inside it is the most comfortable thing ever.

Here is how I wore it yesterday. It may look like it is clipped around the entire bun but the bottom half of my clip is inserted the same as I would insert a hairstick. As long as I get it through that one loop I don't have any problems.

P.S. I am at BSL. This is a large ficcare, but truthfully I prefer mediums at the moment but either of them are comfortable. I can't imagine growing out of a large.

faellen, the color growing in is beautiful.

I have one ficcare and never use it. I should at least do something and take a pic for this thread. I'm another one of those who doesn't seem to be able to get the sucker to stay put and not slip out. My hair is slippery and I'm not sure the ficcare has enough to really dig into to hold as solidly as it is meant to do.

Just the opposite of most people's problem!

I look forward to seeing your ficcare pic! :)

So, this is just to show how much a Ficcare holds from only one side of the bun. This is just a cinnabun, and fixed like this will last a whole day - no slipping, no sliding.

I am excited with this thread, as it motivated me to give my Ficcare another chance, which resulted in this:

http://i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p655/criminalski/Hairdo/Frenchtwist_zps5d73e896.jpg

It's some kind of french twist. The roll isn't visible if you see my head from the other side.
This is the first time I got a Ficcare to work for me. I've been wearing my hair like this yesterday and today and it holds really well :) It also hides the difference between my natural color and the rest (henna) pretty well. It might become my classy 123-go style.

How about a faccare? I don't own a real Ficcare, but I do have this pretty Ficcare-esque clip!

This picture is over two years old, I think I was bsl or a little past it for this style.

I think it was an attempt at a Figure-8 but the ends fell out!

An idea for a future "Hairstyle of the Month": "Your favorite hairstyle on yourself" As in, what is your favorite hairstyle to wear, I think it would be really interesting! :) Just a thought for when the OPs are temporarily out of ideas. ";)

Getting in a bit late here - I only have one ficcare and only one way I wear it (nautilus), although recently I've discovered I can now wear many styles that were virtually impossible not so long ago, so I think maybe I should have a session of ficcare experimentation to see what else I can do with it!

Unfortunately I do find that no matter how comfortably it is positioned when I first put it in, after a few hours I end up with a slight headache. Again, that may be down to needing more practise with ways to wear and insert it.

Anyhoo, here's my picture:

The silver in your black hair is beautiful.
I think its practice, mine used to hurt and after using it a bit, it does not. I find its best to make sure the curve is against the curve of my head, though.
