I was just going through the Ask a Clean Person archives (http://thehairpin.com/2011/11/ask-a-clean-person-a-look-back-by-topic) on Hairpin, and I stumbled on this post with advice for cleaning silk pillowcases (http://thehairpin.com/2011/10/ask-a-clean-person-let%E2%80%99s-clean-our-beds-and-then-take-to-them-for-the-entire-winter). I figured it would be useful for any of you LHC gals who use a silk pillowcase (or sleep bonnet) to protect your hair. It's the second Q&A on the page.

I can vouch for Eucalan (http://www.eucalan.com/) no-rinse delicate wash. I use it to wash my hand-knit items. It comes in several scents, all of which are heavenly.

I just wash mine with my normal washing powder at 30 degrees on the silk cycle. Seems to work fine :). I will have to check out that link though! Thanks :).

I just hand wash my silk sleep cap in lukewarm water using clarifying shampoo or other clear (cone-free) shampoo.

I wash my silk sleep caps by hand, most because of the elastic, but the pillowcases are zipped into a lingerie bag and chucked into the washer with regular clothes and then into the dryer. No special treatment for them!

I put mine into a delicates bag for a regular wash cycle and then hang to dry.
