Indian mega bun without hairsticks

I just about died when I saw this video, her hair is beautiful and that bun, wow. I have been looking for a bun tutorial for a huge bun I want to wear tonight. Sadly my bun looks puny compared to hers.

Just tried it on my freshly washed/air-dried BSL hair...fell down the second I let go! I was able to get it to stay loosely with a hair stick, but definitely wouldn't last long!

I tried it on my due for a wash-hair, and it felt fairly sturdy. Maybe you need some grease to get it to stay up! :P

I do that one occasionally, but my hair is nowhere near as thick as hers!

I think her hair might be a little teased and thats why it stays by itself. It's not 80 style rat snaggle teasing but just a little bit to make it grippy.

My BFF can do it! Her fine hair is perfect for it, once she tried to do it on my heavy hair, it's weight gradually undid it :/ she told me she had to tie it extra hard in order for it to last a couple of hours. It's not surprising since I only can wear certain buns, or else I get neck pain :(.
