Hi everyone,
I am recently back on the Long Hair band wagon, and wanted to get back to loving my hair the way I did in my early teens. I am now 20 and for the last two years I have been thrown into a whirlwind when it comes to my personal schedule. Because of that I lost the love of doing my hair. I even considered *gasp* a pixie cut! But, thanks to a movie night at my brothers the film The Hobbit got me back to loving on my hair again.Unfortuananly, I have been mistreating it quite a bit lately and might have a little repair work todo (and growing out), but anywhos, I remembered how wonderful it was to have hair just past my waist and was seething with Jealousy when the Dwarves arrive at the Elf Kingdom. Every elf with hair to their waist and beautiful braided hairstyles. So the question is... Does anyone know of any websites/blogs that focus on the hair (or similar style) of the elves in LOTR? Fashion and makeup inspired would be nice too, but I am "manely" just interested in the hair.
THANX!

Hello!
Lord of the Rings has always been a huge inspiration of mine too, so I'm happy it has such an effect on others!
Here are some of the resources I know:
DreamWeaver Braiding: http://www.dreamweaverbraiding.com
This site has a wealth of really elaborate braids, many of which are directly from, or based upon LOTR. However, they all require an outside party to do the braiding, so you'll probably have to modify them for a bit of simplicity.
Loepsie the excellent youtuber: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE2FA268ECAF422A3
She's one of my absolute favourites, and here are her videos specifically related to LOTR.
Torrin the other excellentyou tuber: http://www.youtube.com/user/torrinpaige
She has really inspiring hair, and some really great LOTR tutorials as well.
That's all I can really think of off the top of my head, but if you're interested in other great braided styles I would recommend drawing inspiration from Game of Thrones too, it has some of the most creative and distinctive braiding I've seen in a while (and also much more diverse than LOTR).
One youtuber that does great videoes on this is LaDollyVita33: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFDEBA58497155E98
Good luck, and have fun with your hair!!

Just type Lord of the Rings Hair/Make up etc. into youtube and you will find tons of tutorials on most things. I'd also suggest checking out cosplay and costume research websites, they often have lots of information for creating the "look" of characters.
From my own bookmarks
A breakdown of the cosmetcis used for Arwen which can give you a starting point since mist of those products have long been discountinued: http://www.very-faery.com/costume/elvenbeauty.htm
More hair tutorials and the owner of the site has impressive hair! (Slightly annoying website to navigate though and the tutorials are a bit vague): http://imaginary-styles.iwarp.com/

A youtuber that has wonderful hair tutorials for beginners is Silvousplaits. She takes a lot of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit hairstyles and breaks them down into simpler versions.
Her page is here: https://www.youtube.com/user/silvousplaits

I've watched all the youtubers you guys have mentioned and LOVED all of them. Dolly333 is omg an awesome braider, so tidy and neat, I just love her. Torrins hair makes me want to steal it. Loepsie is drop dead gorgeous (not that the other gals ain't) and also extremely talented. Souvplaits, has serious mad skills, though her crooked partings make me cringe, but that is the obsessive compulsive disorder in me! Um Silvouplaits does some awesome vikings hair. Ephemeron gave a link to her youtube.
I am their biggest fans..
