Just wondering cuz some says they dont wash their hair for more than 1-2 times a week. Does that include not wetting your hair at all? Or just means co-washing?

THANKS!

Also, to those who really dont wash your hair for long periods, what do you do to avoid bad smell, esp. from everyday activities/exposure?

My hair gets washed usually 2 times a week...sometimes 3 rarely. I don't wet it at all on the off days...I just put my hair in a bun in the shower. My head doesn't tend to sweat much, but if I felt my hair was dirty due to some unusual activity, I would wash it whether it was an official wash day or not. As a general thing, my hair doesn't get to smelling. I wash it because it starts to look a little greasy.

I wash my hair every 3-4 days, depending on what I'm doing/going. I generally wear my hair up or in braids, I haven't noticed a smell nor has my husband. I was as needed so if I get dirty then in the shower I go without worries. I have never CO washed and I don't wet my hair down between washes.

I wash once a week, maybe twice, just CO wash. Between washes I don't wet my hair at all. I've never noticed any smell nor has my family. In the summer or when I have practice I might wash more often, but I don't usually sweat too much.

I could sweat as an olympic sport. AFAIK my scalp never smells, it's healthy and I use super gentle pH appropriate products so the microorganism population is in balance. If your scalp smells see your family doctor.

I rinse nightly, but that is to get all dust and pollen off, so I don't breathe them in while my hair tries to strangle me at night.
(I swear, it escapes everything that doesn't hurt).

I've been known to use water and EO sprays for freshening. Or blotting the scalp-all of it- with a cotton ball with ACV and EO.

In a pinch, I'll scalp wash an extra time.

I wash every 5-7 days. My hair does not smell unless I've been camping or something like that. I take body showers between wash days and I just put my hair in a bun under a shower cap.

I live in a place that gets hot during the summer (100F+) so I will wash my hair earlier if it gets too sweaty. I keep my hair clean in certain situations by wearing head coverings and hats.

I decide that my hair needs a wash when it gets to a certain grease level, I don't really have set wash days, except that I like my hair to be on the cleaner side for church on Sundays.

As for the "Wetting your hair removes moisture?" question, I always stretched my washes because I didn't want to put my hair through getting washed as often. Wetting hair does not remove moisture, but it can be damaging in other ways.

The reason people oil after washing is to seal in the moisture their hair has gained while wet.

I wash my hair 2 times a week too, sometimes 3 depending on how much horse riding I've done (not good to have hair smelling of the stables, lol - plus my head gets very sweaty under a riding hat). Usually, though, smell isn't the problem. When my hair looks very greasy and my scalp starts to itch, it's wash time!

I wash when my hair begins to look greasy, every 3-4 days usually. In between that I just keep it up and out of the way while I'm bathing. I might wash it sooner if I've been doing strenuous exercise or once because I went to a barbecue and couldn't get rid of the smoke smell!

When hair get wet it has to go through a process to get rid of the water, this causes hydral fatigue which makes your hair more delicate. Although I saw a thread somewhere where there was a poll for how many people who have attained loooong hair and are everyday washers. I wash my hair every other day and I notice a bit of dryness when I have to wash in between due to unforeseen circumstances

If your scalp smells see your family doctor.

This. The only time I've ever encountered a stinky head was on someone with a fungal issue or other illness.

I only wash it a few times a week because I'm on isotretinoin (acne drug) and my skin produces no oils anymore, and I'm not really an active person, so I don't sweat much either so my scalp stays clean. In fact, sometimes I wash it (CO wash) extra just to get everything damp because it feels dry and the wetness makes my hair feel better. To me, wetting my hair helps it feel soft. Otherwise it seems to get dry and tangly and almost straw like in this summer heat.. even with oil.

I hope not!!
I CO my hair every 2 or 3 days (gets really greasy by the third so depends what i'm doing) and days i don't wash it i have to spritz it with water otherwise it will be frizzy. My hair doesn't seemed to have got any drier

I wash my hair once a week. I have a very dry scalp, so my hair doesn't get oily or smelly. Sometimes I'll let it get wet in the shower if I want to let it air dry back into it's natural shape afterwards, but mostly I use a shower cap. I don't think water alone really strips your hair of anything, but hydral fatigue can happen.
