This is absolutely my favorite informal updo. Each time it looks a little different. I love that the tail of my comet bun has passed BSL. The fork is a GTS antler fork with a tulipwood topper from the swapboard. I start making a Nautilus bun, but instead of wrapping around, I just flip my ends over the middle and down, and then capture them with the fork.

What a coincidence, I got all stoked yesterday and did something really similar while trying to do a nautilus. I felt all special like I invented something and told the bf it was to be known as the fox's tail. It looks so cool with your fork and length!

I love these. Only way I can wear a "ponytail".

I love how it looks! But can you explain what you do with the ends again? What part of the bun do you flip your ends over? They're coming out from underneath the bun. Sorry. I'm not too gifted with updos and need a lot of explanation.

I've been doing this one lately too. As far as the ends, MsBubbles, Make your Nautilus like you usually do, but when you get to the part of "wrap all the remaining hair around the base", skip that part. Wrap it just until it is pointing straight down the middle, then secure with hair adornment of your choice.

Exactly. I will see if I can get a son to hold still long enough for a tutorial tomorrow, but they are pretty squirrelly about taking pictures of mom's hair! Thanks for the compliments, all!

I finally wrangled a son to help me video (http://youtu.be/frkMz0TqQ1M). Hope this shows up. My hair is still damp from washing, so it is acting a little difficult. This is how I start a Nautilus, but I keep wrapping the around the center until there is no hair left.

Awesome bun! I don't think my hair is long enough yet though.

Your ends are beautifully thick! Once mine are in better shape I'll certainly be trying this.

My hair will probably never be long enough to do that but I can enjoy it from afar! Awesome!!!!

There are so many lovely buns out there for shorter lengths. I am seriously tempted to go shorter just to be able to do a Gibson Tuck! But you might get there before you know it.

Nice antler stick in your video, where'd you get it?
Ha!

I'm so glad they are working out for you, they look great, and especially with this bun.

I LOVE them! I wear them almost every day. I like how they stand out against my hair, and they are so light and comfy.
